Modified seldinger technique: the importance of a differentiated technique for peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) insertion

The peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is considered an important and safe device for long-term intravenous treatment. The modified seldedinger technique (MST) PICC insertion appears as an effective method of adverse events related to mechanical failure during insertion or identified later. The aim of this study was to describe the importance of the modified Seldinger technique in PICC insertion in the prevention of adverse events. A narrative literature review with a qualitative approach carried out analyzing 10 scientific articles from the last years in nine countries. The results lower the operation of the MST in the insertion of the PICC above 90% and the occurrence of complications. In addition, known studies also use rate when using bearish technical events. It is concluded that MST in the passage of the PICC is a safe, reliable, effective, economical and effective method, in addition to providing, and customer satisfaction.
