Digital literacy in Computing Vocational Course: considerations on the Course Pedagogical Project

Resumo: Considering the relevance of the promotion of digital literacy in a secondary level vocational course, the aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the aspects of digital literacy and the Course Pedagogical Project of the secondary level computing vocational course of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - IFRN). Thus, through an exploratory research, the objectives and the egress profile sections, that are part of the Course Pedagogical Project, were analyzed, considering the aspects of digital literacy proposed by Shetzer and Warschauer (2000). These aspects are communication, construction and research and they were the basis to the analysis of the computing Course Pedagogical Project. Through our analysis, it was possible to understand that the digital literacy aspectcs are still very subtle, specially on the objectives section. However, there is a lack of these aspects on the egress profile section, nevertheless this same section is highly oriented to computational literacy, presenting gaps in what regards digital literacy. We defend the idea that it is necessary to bring digital literacy practices into the egress profile, in order to guarantee the students’ participation in the society they are inserted.

We defend the idea that it is necessary to bring digital literacy practices into the egress profile, in order to guarantee the students’ participation in the society they are inserted.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las relaciones entre las dimensiones del letramento digital y el Proyecto Pedagógico de Curso (PPC) del curso técnico de nivel medio integrado en informática ofrecido en el sector de la informática, Instituto Federal de Río Grande del Norte (IFRN). Así, desarrollamos una investigación de naturaleza exploratoria, en la que analizamos la sección de los objetivos y perfil del egreso, partes constituyentes de los PPC del IFRN, tomando como base las dimensiones del letramento digital propuestas por Shetzer y Warschauer (2000), a saber, comunicación, construcción e investigación, confrontándolas con las informaciones descritas en el PPC de informática. Nuestros resultados apuntan que el PPC de informática presenta indicios aún muy tímidos de las categorías de letramento digital, sobre todo en la sección de los objetivos. Sin embargo, hay carencia de las dimensiones del letramento digital en la sección que trata del perfil del profesional formado, ya que esta sección mucho se vuelve hacia el letra del cálculo computacional, presentando lagunas en lo que se refiere al letra digital. Defendemos que deba haber una mayor aproximación de las prácticas de letramento digital en el perfil del alumno egresado, en función de la garantía, en potencial, de su mayor participación en la sociedad en que actúa.Considerando a relevância da promoção do letramento digital em curso técnico de nível médio integrado, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar as relações entre as dimensões do letramento digital e o Projeto Pedagógico de Curso (PPC) do curso técnico de nível médio integrado em informática ofertado no Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN). Assim, desenvolvemos uma pesquisa de natureza exploratória, em que analisamos a seção dos objetivos e perfil do egresso, partes constituintes dos PPC do IFRN, tomando como base as dimensões do letramento digital propostas por Shetzer e Warschauer (2000), a saber, comunicação, construção e pesquisa, confrontando-as com as informações descritas no PPC de informática. Nossos resultados apontam que o PPC de informática apresenta indícios ainda muito tímidos das categorias de letramento digital, sobretudo na seção dos objetivos. No entanto, há carência das dimensões do letramento digital na seção que trata do perfil do profissional formado, visto que essa seção muito se volta para o letramento computacional, apresentando lacunas no que diz respeito ao letramento digital.
