Pentose phosphate pathway and phospholipid synthesis as future cancer treatment: a systematic review

Resumo: | Understanding cell balance and interference with proliferative fate makes the pentose phosphate pathway an essential target in metabolic processes. The objective of this work was to review the scientific journals for indications and reasons to block the pentose phosphate pathway as an alternative practice in the treatment of neoplasia. This review was developed from an exploratory review of articles selected in the database platforms of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (Lilacs), and Scientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MedLine) and Google Scholar, whose documents are crucial to raise proposals that the theme aims at. The studies reviewed in this article, demonstrated positive results and of great importance for the activity of the pentose phosphate pathway. When thinking about metabolic reprogramming, we obtain a significant link related to cancer, and the mechanisms that cells use to support environments with intense energy needs and the involvement of PPP pathway activity, still need to be better understood, considering that, be positively regulated in cancer and become an attractive target in search of tumor prognosis and define new cancer treatments. |

El objetivo de este trabajo fue revisar las revistas científicas en busca de indicaciones y motivos para bloquear la vía de las pentosas fosfato como práctica alternativa en el tratamiento de las neoplasias. Esta revisión se desarrolló a partir de una revisión exploratoria de artículos seleccionados en las plataformas de bases de datos de Literatura Latinoamericana y Caribeña en Ciencias de la Salud (Lilacs) y Scientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), Sistema de Análisis y Recuperación de Literatura Médica Online (MedLine) y Google Scholar, cuyos documentos son cruciales para plantear propuestas a las que apunta la temática. Los estudios revisados en este artículo, demostraron resultados positivos y de gran importancia para la actividad de la vía de las pentosas fosfato. Al pensar en la reprogramación metabólica, obtenemos un vínculo significativo relacionado con el cáncer, y los mecanismos que utilizan las células para respaldar entornos con necesidades energéticas intensas y la participación de la actividad de la vía PPP, aún deben entenderse mejor, considerando que, regularse positivamente en el cáncer y convertirse en un objetivo atractivo en la búsqueda del pronóstico tumoral y definir nuevos tratamientos contra el cáncer.Entender o equilíbrio celular e interferência no destino proliferativo torna a via das pentoses fosfato um alvo essencial nos processos metabólicos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi revisar nos periódicos científicos indícios e fundamentações para bloquear a via das pentoses fosfato como prática alternativa no tratamento de neoplasia. Essa revisão foi desenvolvida a partir de uma revisão exploratória de artigos selecionados nas plataformas de base de dados da Literatura Latino-americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (Lilacs), e Scientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval Sistem Online (MedLine) e Google Acadêmico, cujos documentos são cruciais para levantar propostas que o tema tem por objetivo. Os estudos revisados neste artigo, demonstraram resultados positivos e de grande importância para a atividade da via das pentoses fosfato.
