Energy efficiency: case study in Rio Grande do Sul agribusiness

Resumo: The issue of energy efficiency is current, relevant and present in the discussions of the world energy system, impacting several business segments. This research aims to carry out an energy efficiency study at the plant of an agribusiness located in the southern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. As for the methodological development, the present study has its approach with quantitative characteristic, because the numerical data are preponderant; as procedures, descriptive and case study, for describing the characteristics of a cereal enterprise and, because it is an analysis of a venture with unique characteristics, not allowing the results achieved to be generalized; and for data collection and analysis, documentary research, field survey and spreadsheet. Also presented were documentary analysis of energy bills, analysis of electric motors, luminotechnical analysis and loss analysis in transformers. With the energy efficiency study completed it was possible to identify in the electrical equipment and in the electric bills the possibility of reduction in the annual energy consumption of 8.97%.

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo llevar a cabo un estudio de eficiencia energética en la planta de un negocio agrícola ubicado en la región sur del estado de Rio Grande do Sul. En cuanto al desarrollo metodológico, el presente estudio tiene su enfoque con características cuantitativas, porque los datos numéricos son preponderantes; como procedimientos, descriptivos y de estudio de caso, para describir las características de una empresa de cereales y, porque es un análisis de una empresa con características únicas, que no permite que se generalicen los resultados obtenidos; y para la recopilación y análisis de datos, investigación documental, encuestas de campo y hojas de cálculo. También se presentaron análisis documentales de facturas de energía, análisis de motores eléctricos, análisis luminotécnico y análisis de pérdidas en transformadores. Con el estudio de eficiencia energética completado, fue posible identificar en los equipos eléctricos y en las facturas eléctricas la posibilidad de una reducción en el consumo anual de energía del 8,97%.A temática da eficiência energética é atual, relevante e está presente nas discussões do sistema energético mundial, tendo impacto em diversos segmentos empresariais. A presente pesquisa tem o objetivo realizar um estudo de eficiência energética na planta de uma agroindústria localizada na região Sul do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Quanto ao desenvolvimento metodológico, o presente estudo tem a sua abordagem com característica quantitativa, pois os dados numéricos são preponderantes; como procedimentos, descritiva e estudo de caso, por descrever as características de um empreendimento cerealista e, por se tratar de uma análise de um empreendimento com características singulares, não permitindo que os resultados alcançados sejam generalizados; e para coleta e análise de dados, pesquisa documental, levantamento de campo e planilha eletrônica. Apresentou-se também, análise documental das contas de energia, análise dos motores elétricos, análise luminotécnica e análise de perda nos transformadores.
