Resumo: Objective: To characterize the socio-epidemiological profile of patients undergoing renal replacement hemodialysis therapy and assess their quality of life. Method: this was a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 79 participants who answered two questionnaires. Results: 64.1% of patients undergoing hemodialysis were men, 53.8% were between 51 and 70 years of age and 46.1% were married. It was found that 75.6% received up to the minimum wage and only 12.8% worked. 76.9% had systemic arterial hypertension as the underlying disease, 47.4% underwent hemodialysis treatment for 1 to 5 years, the most common access for hemodialysis was arteriovenous fistula with 85.8% of the total. Conclusion: Dialysis chronic renal failure causes changes in the physical, social and psychological sphere of the patient, since it is an incurable disease with continuous progression and its treatment causes changes in lifestyle, often requiring adaptations.
