Validation of a scale of computer skills for nurses: psychometric analysis

Resumo: Objective: To validate a scale capable of measuring the construct computer skills for Brazilian nurses. Method: Cross-sectional study, carried out with 550 nurses who developed teaching and care activities. The collection took place through a self-administered Likert-type questionnaire containing 78 computer skills, via Google Forms. Exploratory factor analyzes with Varimax rotation were used. Also, the dimensionality and psychometric analysis of the competencies and the internal consistency of the instrument were verified. Results: The Bartlett tests and the KMO confirmed data correspondence to the factor analysis. Exploratory factor analysis suggested a unidimensional instrument. Four factors were extracted, according to the criteria of the accumulated proportion and the Scree Plot. Four exploratory factor analyzes were applied with Varimax rotation to analyze the factor loadings and commonalities of each item, excluding 12 competencies. The consistency of the instrument was 0.99, verified by Cronbach's alpha. Conclusion: The scale proved to be valid, with 66 competencies, distributed in four factors, being stable and consistent for its applicability. This management tool will enable the assessment of computer skills and consequent planning of educational strategies in the face of identified weaknesses.

Método: Estudio transversal, realizado con 550 enfermeros que desarrollaban actividades docentes y asistenciales. La recolección se realizó a través de un cuestionario tipo Likert autoadministrado que contenía 78 conocimientos informáticos, a través de Google Forms. Se utilizaron análisis factoriales exploratorios con rotación Varimax. Asimismo, se verificó la dimensionalidad y análisis psicométrico de las competencias y la consistencia interna del instrumento. Resultados: Las pruebas de Bartlett y el KMO confirmaron la correspondencia de los datos con el análisis factorial. El análisis factorial exploratorio sugirió un instrumento unidimensional. Se extrajeron cuatro factores, según el criterio de la proporción acumulada y el Scree Plot. Se aplicaron cuatro análisis factoriales exploratorios con rotación Varimax para analizar las cargas factoriales y los puntos en común de cada ítem, excluyendo 12 competencias. La consistencia del instrumento fue de 0,99, verificada por el alfa de Cronbach. Conclusión: La escala demostró ser válida, con 66 competencias, distribuidas en cuatro factores, siendo estable y consistente para su aplicabilidad. A consistência do instrumento foi de 0,99 verificada pelo alfa de Cronbach. Conclusão: A escala se mostrou válida, com 66 competências, distribuídas em quatro fatores, sendo estável e consistente para sua aplicabilidade.
