Manual propulsion mechanisms of vehicles for the locomotion of people with lower-limbs motor disabilities: prospective study

Resumo: | People with motor disabilities present mobility-related needs that the available products cannot fully meet. Widely adopted assistive devices, wheelchairs have low mechanical efficiency, therefore, not ideal for locomotion. The mechanisms developed to solve this fact still need attention in their project and do not deliver complete solutions. Other vehicles are used for this purpose more efficiently; however, they present inappropriate configurations. This study aims to search for technologies used in manual propulsion mechanisms used in vehicles for people with lower-limb motor disabilities. As a methodology adopted, a prospective study was carried out to verify the technological scenario. For the selection criteria adopted, 19 patents were found, none in Brazil, on the search platform. These results demonstrate that there is potential to work with product projects for this group in the country due to the market gap. |

Dispositivos de asistencia de terceros ampliamente adoptados, las sillas de ruedas tienen una baja eficiencia mecánica y, por lo tanto, no son ideales para la locomoción. Los mecanismos desarrollados para resolver este hecho aún necesitan atención en su proyecto y no entregan soluciones completas. Hay otros vehículos que se utilizan para este propósito de manera más eficiente, sin embargo, tienen configuraciones inapropiadas. El objetivo de este estudio es buscar tecnologías utilizadas en los mecanismos de propulsión manual utilizados en vehículos para personas con discapacidad motora de miembros inferiores. Como metodología adoptada, se realizó un estudio prospectivo para verificar el escenario tecnológico. Para los criterios de selección adoptados, se encontraron 19 patentes, ninguna en Brasil, en la plataforma de búsqueda. Estos resultados demuestran que existe potencial para trabajar con proyectos de productos para esta audiencia en el país debido a la brecha del mercado.Pessoas com deficiência motora apresentam necessidades relacionadas à mobilidade que os produtos disponíveis não conseguem atender plenamente. Dispositivos de assistência por terceiros amplamente adotados, as cadeiras de rodas possuem baixa eficiência mecânica, portanto, não ideais para locomoção. Os mecanismos desenvolvidos para solucionar tal fato ainda carecem de atenção em seu projeto e não entregam soluções completas. Existem outros veículos que são usados para esse fim de forma mais eficiente, contudo, apresentam configurações não apropriadas. O objetivo deste estudo é buscar tecnologias usadas em mecanismos para propulsão manual usados em veículos para pessoas com deficiência motora de membros inferiores. Como metodologia adotada, foi realizado um estudo prospectivo, para verificar o cenário tecnológico. Para os critérios de seleção adotados, foram encontrados 19 patentes, nenhuma no Brasil, na plataforma de busca.
