Physical activity and its influence on the quality of life of penitentiary agents

Resumo: | Objective: To analyze the practice of physical activity and its influence on the quality of life of prison officers. Method: Research carried out with prison officers in the city of Jequié/Ba. The reporting of demographic data through the bioelaborated by the investigation. To test the level of physical activity and quality of life from the IPAQ and quality of life from the WHOQOL-bref. Data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS version 210. As categorical variables through frequencies and as intervals through measures of central tendency and dispersion, 95% confidence was used (p<0.05). Results: The mean age was 44 years (±8), a prevalence of sedentary behavior of 63.3% (n=62). Among men with sedentary behavior, males (77.4%), non-whites (83.9%), with partners 61.3%) and with higher education (51.6%) prevailed. The quality of life or lower domain was environmental for the groups, with a median of 60.9% and 59.4%, respectively. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop proposals for interventions in the work environment of penitentiary agents and to encourage physical activity to improve health conditions, lifestyle and consequently the quality of life of these workers. |

Método: Investigación realizada con funcionarios penitenciarios de la ciudad de Jequié/Ba. El reporte de datos demográficos a través de los bioelaborados por la investigación. Testear el nivel de actividad física y calidad de vida del IPAQ y calidad de vida del WHOQOL-bref. Los datos fueron tabulados y analizados con SPSS versión 210. Como variables categóricas a través de frecuencias e intervalos a través de medidas de tendencia central y dispersión se utilizó el 95% de confianza (p<0,05). Resultados: La edad media fue de 44 años (±8), la prevalencia de conducta sedentaria del 63,3% (n=62). Entre los hombres con comportamiento sedentario, prevalecieron los del sexo masculino (77,4%), no blancos (83,9%), con pareja 61,3%) y con estudios superiores (51,6%). La calidad de vida o dominio inferior fue ambiental para los grupos, con una mediana de 60,9% y 59,4%, respectivamente. Conclusión: Es necesario desarrollar propuestas de intervención en el ambiente de trabajo de los agentes penitenciarios y fomentar la actividad física para mejorar las condiciones de salud, el estilo de vida y consecuentemente la calidad de vida de estos trabajadores.Palabras clave: Salud del trabajador; Prisiones; Ejercicio físico; Calidad de vida.Objetivo: Analisar a prática de atividade física e sua influência na qualidade de vida dos agentes penitenciários. Método: Pesquisa realizada com os agentes penitenciários do município de Jequié/Ba. A obtenção dos dados biosociodemográficos através do questionário elaborado pelos pesquisadores. Para coletar o nível da atividade física adotou-se o IPAQ e qualidade de vida pelo WHOQOL-bref. Os dados foram tabulados e analisados no SPSS versão 21.0. As variáveis categóricas por meio de frequências e as quantitativas por meio de medidas de tendência central e de dispersão, utilizado intervalo de confiança de 95% (p<0,05). Resultados: A média de idade foi de 44 anos (±8), prevalência do comportamento sedentário de 63,3% (n=62). Entre os indivíduos com comportamento sedentário prevaleceram os do sexo masculino (77,4%), não brancos (83,9%), com companheira(o) (61,3%) e com escolaridade de nível superior (51,6%). O de qualidade de vida o menor dos domínios foi o ambiental para ambos os grupos, com mediana respectivamente de 60,9% e 59,4%.
