Risks of the use of androgen anabolic steroids in sports

Resumo: Anabolic androgenic steroids are synthetic substances produced from the male hormone testosterone. In recent decades these drugs have been used by gym goers. However, indiscriminate use has taken a large proportion, thus leading to a concern due to its side effects, often irreversible, that can occur. To carry out this research, a survey of scientific articles was carried out in the Scielo, PubMed, BVS, Lilacs and Google Scholar databases, in which 81 bibliographic materials were obtained, of which 20 were selected, between the years 2000 and 2021. Information obtained in this research reveals that in recent years there has been a significant increase in the use of anabolic androgenic steroids by athletes in order to increase their physical performance or just for aesthetics, thus causing some side effects. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the risks of using androgenic anabolic steroids in sports.

En las últimas décadas, estos medicamentos han sido utilizados por los asistentes al gimnasio. Sin embargo, el uso indiscriminado ha tomado una gran proporción, lo que genera preocupación por los efectos secundarios, muchas veces irreversibles, que puede presentar. Para llevar a cabo esta investigación se realizó un levantamiento de artículos científicos en las bases de datos Scielo, PubMed, BVS, Lilacs y Google Scholar, en el cual se obtuvieron 81 materiales bibliográficos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 20, entre los años 2000 y 2021. Información obtenido en esta investigación revela que en los últimos años ha habido un aumento significativo en el uso de esteroides androgénicos anabólicos por parte de los atletas con el fin de aumentar su rendimiento físico o simplemente por estética, lo que provoca algunos efectos secundarios. Por lo tanto, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar los riesgos del uso de esteroides anabólicos androgénicos en el deporte.Os esteroides anabolizantes androgênicos são substâncias sintéticas produzidas a partir do hormônio masculino, a testosterona. Nas últimas décadas essas drogas vêm sendo utilizadas por frequentadores de academias. Entretanto, o uso indiscriminado tomou uma grande proporção, levando assim a uma preocupação devido aos seus efeitos colaterais, muitas vezes irreversíveis, que podem ocorrer. Para a realização dessa pesquisa foi feito um levantamento de artigos científicos nas bases Scielo, PubMed, BVS, Lilacs e Google Acadêmico, na qual obteve-se 81 materiais bibliográficos, dos quais 20 foram selecionados, sendo eles entre os anos 2000 e 2021. As informações obtidas nessa pesquisa revelam que nos últimos anos houve um aumento significativo do uso dos esteroides anabolizantes androgênicos por esportistas com intuito de aumentar sua performance física ou apenas por estética, acarretando assim alguns efeitos colaterais.
