Feelings of professionals working in Primary Care during the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: | Goal: Comprehend the feelings of professionals who work in Primary Care (AB) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: It's a qualitative study, developed with the health care team of a Basic Health Unit (UBS), which is located in a medium-sized county in the state of Santa Catarina, in November 2020. During the data collection, three focus groups were held with the participation of professionals from different categories. The focus groups were conducted using a guiding script and the discussions were audio-recorded and then later transcribed. The material was treated by thematic content analysis. The research protocol strictly followed every ethical requirements and was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Fronteira Sul Federal University (UFFS), through opinion 4,301,348 of September 20, 2020 (CAAE: 37110520.7.0000.5564). Results: When analyzing the feelings of health care professionals who worked in Primary Care during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was found that these feelings impacted the personal lives of professionals, their service to the community and the conviviality with their families. From the speech clippings of the transcribed material, five empirical categories emerged, understood as feelings of the analyzed professionals: psychic suffering, pressure, fear, anguish and frustration. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic negatively influenced the mental health of health professionals, since one can perceive the presence of psychological illness resulting from work. |

Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, desenvolvido com a equipe de saúde de uma UBS, localizada em um município de médio porte do estado de Santa Catarina, no mês de novembro de 2020. Para a coleta de dados, foram realizados três grupos focais com a participação de 23 profissionais de diferentes categorias. Os grupos focais foram conduzidos por meio de um roteiro orientador e as discussões foram audiogravadas e, posteriormente, transcritas. O material foi tratado por análise de conteúdo temática. O protocolo de pesquisa seguiu todos os requisitos éticos e foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS), por meio do parecer 4.301.348 de 20 de setembro de 2020 (CAAE: 37110520.7.0000.5564). Resultados: Ao analisar os sentimentos dos profissionais de saúde que atuaram na AB durante a pandemia de COVID-19, verificou-se que estes sentimentos impactaram a vida pessoal dos profissionais, o seu atendimento à comunidade e a vivência com a família. Pelos recortes de fala do material transcrito, emergiram cinco categorias empíricas compreendidas como sentimentos dos profissionais: sofrimento psíquico, pressão, medo, angústia e frustração. Conclusão: A pandemia de COVID-19 influenciou negativamente a saúde mental dos profissionais de saúde, uma vez que diversos sentimentos negativos foram evidentes nas falas profissionais.Objetivo: Comprender los sentimientos de los profesionales que actúan en Atención Primaria durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Para la recolección de datos, se formaron tres grupos focales con la participación de profesionales de diferentes categorías. Los grupos focales utilizaron un guión y las discusiones fueron grabadas en audio y luego transcritas. El material fue tratado por análisis de contenido temático. El protocolo de investigación siguió todos los requisitos éticos y fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética en Investigación de la Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul (UFFS), a través del dictamen 4.301.348 de 20 de setiembre de 2020 (CAAE: 37110520.7.0000.5564). Resultados: Al analizar los sentimientos de los profesionales de la salud que actuaron en la Atención Básica durante la pandemia de COVID-19, se constató que estos sentimientos impactaron en la vida personal de los profesionales, su servicio a la comunidad y la convivencia con la familia. A partir de los recortes de discursos del material transcrito surgieron cinco categorías empíricas, entendidas como sentimientos de los profesionales: sufrimiento psíquico, presión, miedo, angustia y frustración.
