Resumo: | Adequate quality of estuarine water is necessary for bathing. Thus, it is essential that the community understands the importance of the quality of its estuarine waters, since it directly influences the promotion of the population's health and well-being. The present study aimed to know the bathing conditions of the estuarine shore of the Ponta do Tubarão State Sustainable Development Reserve through the environmental perception of the residents of the communities of Chico Martins, Barreiras, Diogo Lopes and Sertãozinho, in Macau / RN. 384 interviews were carried out, with the aid of a semi-structured questionnaire with multiple answers, which sought to know the interviewees' environmental perception regarding bathing. The results obtained affirm that the majority of the residents are male, with low level of education and that the majority fish and live for more than 20 years in their community. Also according to the results obtained, most respondents use the estuary water for fishing or leisure and consider the quality of the water to be good, although it confirms the existence of domestic effluents, the inadequate disposal of solid urban waste and the presence of animals in the estuary area. As a result, it was concluded that the population of the communities surveyed in the Ponta do Tubarão State Sustainable Development Reserve is characterized as follows: despite the high number of sewers, residents say that estuarine water is suitable for consumption. |

Por ello, es fundamental que la comunidad comprenda la importancia de la calidad de sus aguas estuarinas, ya que influye directamente en la promoción de la salud y el bienestar de la población. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer las condiciones de baño de la orilla del estuario de la Reserva de Desarrollo Sostenible del Estado de Ponta do Tubarão a través de la percepción ambiental de los habitantes de las comunidades de Chico Martins, Barreiras, Diogo Lopes y Sertãozinho, en Macao / RN. Se realizaron 384 entrevistas, con la ayuda de un cuestionario semiestructurado de múltiples respuestas, que buscaba conocer la percepción ambiental de los entrevistados sobre el baño. Los resultados obtenidos afirman que la mayoría de los pobladores son varones, con bajo nivel educativo y que la mayoría pescan y viven más de 20 años en su comunidad. También según los resultados obtenidos, la mayoría de los encuestados utiliza el agua de la ría para la pesca o el ocio y considera que la calidad del agua es buena, aunque se confirma la existencia de efluentes domésticos, la disposición inadecuada de residuos sólidos urbanos y la presencia de animales. en la zona de la ría. O presente estudo teve por objetivo conhecer as condições de balneabilidade da orla estuarina da Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Estadual Ponta do Tubarão por meio da percepção ambiental dos moradores das comunidades de Chico Martins, Barreiras, Diogo Lopes e Sertãozinho, em Macau/RN. Foram realizadas 384 entrevistas, com o auxílio de um questionário semiestruturado com múltiplas respostas, que buscaram conhecer a percepção ambiental dos entrevistados quanto à balneabilidade. Os resultados obtidos afirmam que a maior parte dos moradores é do sexo masculino, com baixo nível de escolaridade e que a maioria pesca e vive há mais de 20 anos em sua comunidade. Ainda de acordo com os resultados obtidos, o maior número dos entrevistados utiliza a água do estuário para pesca ou lazer e considera a qualidade da água boa, embora confirme a existência de efluentes domésticos, a disposição inadequada de resíduos sólidos urbanos e a presença de animais domésticos na área de estuário.
