Influence of spirituality on the life of people with intestinal stomas: an integrative review

Resumo: | People with intestinal stomas face difficulties in adaptation. This study seeks to analyze the scientific evidence regarding the influence of spirituality in the life of the person with an intestinal stoma, through an integrative review that used the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus and the Pubmed portal. The final sample of selected studies was composed of eleven scientific articles, five from Brazil, two from the United States, two from Iran, one from Taiwan, and one from Vojvodina, seven quantitative, two mixed, and two qualitative. The following guiding question was used: What is the evidence available in the literature on the influence of spirituality in the life of the person with an intestinal stoma? The studies showed that spirituality positively influences the acceptance of the stoma by the person and that health professionals should identify the spiritual needs to help people in this condition. |

Este estudio busca analizar las evidencias científicas sobre la influencia de la espiritualidad en la vida de la persona con estoma intestinal, a través de una revisión integradora que utilizó las siguientes bases de datos: Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus y portal Pubmed La muestra final de estudios seleccionados estuvo compuesta por once artículos científicos, cinco de Brasil, dos de Estados Unidos, dos de Irán, uno de Taiwán y uno de Vojvodina, siendo siete cuantitativos, dos mixtos y dos cualitativos. Se utilizó la siguiente pregunta orientadora: ¿Qué evidencias hay en la literatura sobre la influencia de la espiritualidad en la vida de las personas con estoma intestinal? Los estudios demostraron que la espiritualidad influye positivamente en la aceptación del estoma por parte de la persona y que los profesionales de la salud deben identificar las necesidades espirituales para ayudar a las personas en esta condición.As pessoas com estomas intestinais enfrentam dificuldades na adaptação. Este estudo busca analisar as evidências científicas a respeito da influência da espiritualidade na vida da pessoa com estoma intestinal, por meio de uma revisão integrativa que utilizou as seguintes bases de dados: Literatura latino-americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus e portal Pubmed. A amostra final de estudos selecionados foi composta de onze artigos científicos, cinco do Brasil, dois dos Estados Unidos, dois do Iran, um de Taiwan e um de Vojvodina, sendo sete quantitativos, dois mistos e dois qualitativos. Utilizou-se a seguinte questão norteadora: Quais as evidências disponíveis na literatura sobre a influência da espiritualidade na vida da pessoa com estoma intestinal?
