Information systems for scientific laboratories: a narrative review

Resumo: Data originated from scientific laboratories require appropriate management. In this sense, there are information systems tailored for this type of working environment, ranging from physical notebooks to personalized electronic platforms. Over time, physical annotation instruments have become no longer sufficient to meet the existing demand in more dynamic research environments. In this context, the objective of this work was to present a narrative review on the key elements surrounding the development of efficient information systems applied to scientific laboratories. In this paper, it is emphasized how essential it is to build customized systems that can specifically meet the needs of the user. This paper also exemplifies the contribution of digital information systems towards research in the areas of life and health sciences. For this, the main concepts and principles involved in the development of scientific research information systems are described, which may be used in the planning stage of new platforms.

En este sentido, surgieron sistemas de información aplicados a estos entornos, desde cuadernos físicos hasta plataformas electrónicas personalizadas. Con el tiempo, los instrumentos de anotación física ya no son suficientes para satisfacer la demanda existente en proyectos de investigación dinámicos. Así, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo presentar una revisión narrativa sobre los elementos clave para el desarrollo de sistemas de información eficientes aplicados a los laboratorios científicos. Aún así, se enfatiza que es fundamental construir sistemas personalizados que puedan satisfacer específicamente las necesidades de los usuarios. Este trabajo también ejemplifica la contribución de los sistemas de información digital a la investigación científica en las áreas de las ciencias de la vida y la salud. Para ello, se describen los principales conceptos y fundamentos que intervienen en el desarrollo de sistemas de información aplicados a la investigación científica y que pueden ser utilizados para la planificación de nuevas plataformas.Em laboratórios científicos são criados dados que necessitam de gerenciamento apropriado. Nesse sentido, surgiram os sistemas de informação aplicados para esses ambientes, desde cadernos físicos de anotação até plataformas eletrônicas personalizadas. Com o passar do tempo, os instrumentos físicos de anotação passaram a não ser mais suficientes para suprir a demanda existente em ambientes dinâmicos de pesquisa. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo apresentar uma revisão narrativa sobre os elementos-chave para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de informação eficientes aplicados a laboratórios científicos. Ainda, salienta-se que é imprescindível a construção de sistemas personalizados que consigam atender de forma específica as necessidades dos usuários. Este trabalho também exemplifica a contribuição de sistemas de informação digitais para pesquisas científicas nas áreas das ciências da vida e saúde.
