Resumo: Hepatitis C is a parenterally transmitted viral disease, and the risk population involves transfused individuals, injecting drug addicts, subjected to percutaneous exposure such as tattooing and individuals with multiple sexual partners. It is among the main hepatitis responsible for causing liver cirrhosis, and is diagnosed by rapid Anti-HCV Test and immunoassay/molecular biology, detecting HCV-RNA. Thus, the present work aims to raise and discuss data about Hepatitis C in the state of Piauí from 2008 to 2018 based on data provided by SINAN. The data obtained for the research were collected in the Notification Aggravation Information System (SINAN) available on the website of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) and discussed according to the literature. The results show that from 2008 to 2018, 498 cases reported with at least one of the markers (anti-HCV or RNA-HCV) and 300 reported cases having the two markers, a more prevalent rate in men, as well as 71 hepatitis C related deaths were registered from 2008 to 2017. It is concluded that there is a need to take preventive measures to prevent the spread of the HCV virus and to reduce the rate of hepatitis C related deaths mainly in men.

It is concluded that there is a need to take preventive measures to prevent the spread of the HCV virus and to reduce the rate of hepatitis C related deaths mainly in men. Research, Society and Development2020-07-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/654010.33448/rsd-v9i8.6540Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 8; e693986540Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 8; e693986540Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 8; e6939865402525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/6540/5813Copyright (c) 2020 Evaldo Hipólito de Oliveirahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessOliveira, Evaldo Hipólito deNery Neto, Jose Arimatea OliveiraLima, Lorena AlmeidaBezerra, Walkiria Brenda de SousaViana, Melquisedeque da Rocha2020-08-20T18:00:17Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/6540Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:29:38.367861Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
