Unveiling the good and the bad of being a taxi driver and educating for health

Resumo: Objective: to investigate positive and negative aspects of the taxi driver profession, in the perception of who works. Method: the cross-sectional and descriptive research, quantitative approach, was developed with 45 motorcycle taxi drivers from a municipality in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, in 2017. A structured questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency distribution. Results: 84% of the participants enjoy their profession, as the time is free and can reconcile other activities. The main damages to physical health pointed out by them were abrasions, upper limb fracture, lower limb and cost. And, the main risk agents are ergonomic, because of the body position used on the motorcycle that causes back pain; biological by exposure to animal bites, physical by exposure to rain, sun and cold and psychosocial by the feeling of devaluation of society in relation to its activity. Use a facebook page as a means of health education for this worker. Conclusion: health education and social valorization campaigns can prevent injuries to these workers, promote their health and help the population to know as vulnerabilities, adding value to life.

Método: la investigación transversal y descriptiva, enfoque cuantitativo, desarrolló con 45 mototaxis de un municipio del interior de Rio Grande do Sul, en 2017. Se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado como instrumento de recolección de datos. . Los datos se analizaron mediante estadística descriptiva y distribución de frecuencias. Resultados: El 84% de los participantes disfruta de su profesión, ya que el tiempo es libre y puede conciliar otras actividades. Los principales daños a la salud física señalados por ellos fueron abrasiones, fractura de miembro superior, miembro inferior y costo. Y, los principales agentes de riesgo son la ergonomía, por la posición del cuerpo utilizada en la motocicleta que provoca dolor de espalda; biológicos por exposición a mordeduras de animales, físicos por exposición a la lluvia, sol y frío y psicosociales por el sentimiento de desvalorización de la sociedad en relación a su actividad. Utilice la página de Facebook como medio de educación sanitaria para este trabajador. Conclusión: las campañas de educación en salud y valorización social pueden prevenir lesiones a estos trabajadores, promover su salud y ayudar a la población a conocer como vulnerabilidades, agregando valor a la vida.Objetivo: investigar aspectos positivos e negativos da profissão de moto taxista, na percepção de quem trabalha. Método: a pesquisa, transversal e descritiva, de abordagem quantitativa, foi desenvolvida junto a 45 moto taxistas de um município do interior do Rio Grande do Sul, em 2017. Utilizou-se como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionário estruturado. Os dados foram analisados utilizando-se a estatística descritiva e a distribuição da frequência. Resultados: dos participantes, 84% gostavam da profissão, visto que o horário é livre e podem conciliar outras atividades. Os principais danos à saúde física apontados por eles foram escoriações, fratura de membro superior, membro inferior e costela. E, os principais agentes de risco são os ergonômicos, pela posição corporal usada na motocicleta causando dores nas costas; biológicos pela exposição a mordidas de animais, físicos pela exposição à chuva, sol e frio e psicossociais pelo sentimento de desvalorização da sociedade frente a sua atividade. Utilizou-se uma página do facebook como um meio de educação em saúde a esse trabalhador.
