Knowledge and practice of intensive care physical therapists on the use of functional electrical stimulation

Resumo: Objective: To ensure the knowledge and practice of intensive physical therapy professionals on the use of functional electrostimulation (FES), in order to observe the level of safety and practice of professionals. Methods: The present study has a cross-sectional approach of the CAP survey type (knowledge, attitude and practice), with a quantitative and descriptive analysis, with searches carried out in PubMed, SciELO, Medline and Cochrane databases. Being approved by the Ethics Committee of the Real Hospital Português, and sent to ASSOBRAFIR a virtual forms through Google Forms containing general information about the research, in addition to a questionnaire with 11 multiple choice questions involving simple and easy to understand questions, about the use of functional electrical stimulation in the ICU. Results: The sample size consisted of 20 professionals of both sexes, aged between 26 and 61 years, with a working time between 1 and 37 years, who answered whether they had the knowledge and whether or not they used the FES in their care. In intensive care unit patients. Conclusion: The survey results suggest that professionals have knowledge about the use of functional electrostimulation within the ICU, with 60% of them not using the technique frequently, and 50% using evidence-based protocols.

Métodos: El presente estúdio se basa em um abordaje transversal del tipo CAP inquisitivo (conocimiento, actitud y práctica), com análisis cuantitativo y descriptivo, com búsquedas realizadas em las bases de datos PubMed, SciELO, Medline y Cochrane. Habiendo sido aprobado por el Comité de Ética del Hospital Real Português, se envió a ASSOBRAFIR um formulário virtual a través de Google Forms que contiene información general sobre la investigación, así como um cuestionario com 11 preguntas de opción múltiple que involucra preguntas simples y fáciles de entender sobre o uso de estimulación elétrica funcional em la UCI. Resultados: El tamanõ de la muestra estuvo conformado por 20 profesionales de ambos sexos, com edades entre 26 y 61 anõs, com tempo de trabajo entre 1 y 27 anõs, quienes respondieron si tenían el conocimiento y si utilizaban o no la FES en su atención. Pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Conclusión: Los resultados de la encuesta sugieren que los profesionales tienen conocimiento sobre el uso de la electroestimulación funcional dentro de la UCI, siend que el 60% de ellos no utiliza la técnica com frecuencia y el 50% utiliza protocolos basados em evidencia.Objetivo: Asseverar o conhecimento e prática dos profissionais de fisioterapia intensiva sobre a utilização da eletroestimulação funcional (FES), visando observar o nível de segurança e prática dos profissionais. Métodos: O presente estudo possui uma abordagem transversal do tipo inquérito CAP (conhecimento, atitude e prática), com uma análise quantitativa e descritiva, com as buscas realizadas nas bases de dados PubMed, SciELO, Medline e Cochrane. Sendo aprovado pelo Comitê de ética do Real Hospital Português, e enviado para a ASSOBRAFIR um formulário virtual através do Google Forms contendo informações gerais sobre a pesquisa, além de um questionário com 11 perguntas de múltiplas escolhas envolvendo questões simples e de fácil compreensão, sobre o uso da eletroestimulação funcional na UTI. Resultados: O tamanho da amostra foi de 20 profissionais de ambos os sexos, com faixa etária entre 26 e 61 anos, com o tempo de atuação entre 1 e 37 anos, que responderam se tinham o conhecimento e utilizavam ou não o FES em seus atendimentos nos pacientes da unidade de terapia intensiva.
