Resumo: | Vegetation fires are complex processes that can have natural causes or be result of human activities. The effect of fire on an ecosystem varies according to its sensitivity, but the recurrence of fires can affect the environmental equilibrium and human health. Seeking to reduce the negative effects of fires, it is necessary to monitor their occurrence and understand their dynamics. In Brazil monitoring is carried out via satellites, which detect hot pixels. This process is performed by National Institute for Space Research (INPE), that provides data used in this work. In order to study the temporal variability of fires in the Amazon, Cerrado, Caatinga and Atlantic Forest biomes, this work uses the Horizontal Visibility Graph method that generates a complex network for each biome and, using topological measures, evaluates whether the series of hot pixels represent stochastic or chaotic process. The measures used are the Coefficient λ of the degree distribution, the Clustering Coefficient and the Average Path Length. The results showed that the topological properties of networks varied according to the number of hot pixels and the number of pixels per unit of area of biome. The fire dynamics presented the correlated stochastic process for Amazon, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes and the chaotic process for the Caatinga biome. |

El efecto del fuego en un ecosistema varía según su sensibilidad, pero la recurrencia del fuego puede afectar el equilibrio ambiental y la salud humana. Buscando reducir los efectos negativos de los incendios, es necesario monitorear su ocurrencia y comprender su dinámica. En Brasil, el monitoreo se realiza vía satélite, con lo cual se detectan focos de calor. Este proceso lo lleva a cabo el Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), que proporciona los datos utilizados en este trabajo. Para estudiar la variabilidad temporal de los incendios en los biomas del Amazonia, Cerrado, Caatinga y el Mata Atlántica, este trabajo utiliza el método del Grafo de Visibilidad Horizontal, con el cual las series temporales de focos de calor de estos biomas se transforman en redes complejas. A partir de ellos, se extraen las medidas topológicas con las cuales es posible evaluar si la dinámica que gobierna cada red generada representa un proceso estocástico o caótico. Estas medidas son: el Coeficiente λ de la distribución de grados del nodo, el Coeficiente de Agrupamiento y la Longitud Promedia. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que las propiedades topológicas de las redes varían según el número de focos de calor y el (n° de focos de calor)/(área del bioma). La dinámica de los incendios presentó características de un proceso estocástico correlacionado para los biomas del Amazonia, el Cerrado y el Mata Atlántica, y un proceso caótico para el bioma de Caatinga.As queimadas são processos complexos que podem ter causas naturais ou serem resultado da interferência humana. O efeito do fogo em um ecossistema varia de acordo com sua sensibilidade, mas a recorrência do fogo pode afetar o equilibrio ambiental e a saúde humana. Buscando reduzir os efeitos negativos das queimadas, faz-se necessário monitorar sua ocorrência e compreender sua dinâmica. No Brasil, o monitoramento é realizado via satélite, com que se detectam os focos de calor. Esse processo é realizado pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), que disponibiliza os dados utilizados neste trabalho. Com o objetivo de estudar a variabilidade temporal das queimadas nos biomas Amazônia, Cerrado, Caatinga e Mata Atlântica, utiliza-se neste trabalho o método Grafo de Visibilidade Horizontal, com que se transformam as séries temporais de focos de calor desses biomas em redes complexas. Delas, extraem-se as medidas topológicas com as quais é possível avaliar se a dinâmica que governa cada rede gerada representa um processo estocástico ou caótico. Tais medidas são: o Coeficiente λ da distribuição de grau do nó, o Coeficiente de Agrupamento e o Comprimento Médio do Caminho. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as propriedades topológicas das redes variam de acordo com o número de focos de calor e com a relação (n° de focos de calor)/(área do bioma).
