Characterization of common bean cultivars based on the Distinction, Homogeneity and Stability (DHE) test

Resumo: The present study aimed to characterize common bean cultivars (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in the Aquidauana-MS region based on the DHE test (Distinction, Homogeneity and Stability). The experiment was carried out at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul. The design used was completely randomized blocks, with four replications, each containing a sample consisting of 25 seeds. Ten common bean cultivars were used, BRS Radiante, Pérola, Madre Pérola, BRS Estilo, BRS Esplendor, Jalo Precoce, BRS Campeiro, BRS Amethyst, BRSMG Highce and BRS Pitanga. The characterization of the genotypes was based on the morphological descriptors for the crop, standardized according to the Minimum Descriptors to Characterize Common Bean Cultivars / Varieties. To describe the qualitative factors, we used: Ribs in the seed, absent or present; Seed color, uniform or uneven; Seed halo, absent or present; Seed halo color, same seed color or different from seed; Commercial Group to which it belongs, white, carioca, jalo, mulatinho, black, rosinha, purple or special; Seed shape, spherical; elliptical: oblong / short reniform; medium oblong / reniform; long oblong / reniform; Flatness degree, flattened; semi-full; full. While the quantitative descriptors were measured with the aid of a caliper and an analytical digital scale, being evaluated: mass of one hundred grains (g), with average humidity between 12 to 14%; seed length, width and thickness (mm). The use of qualitative or quantitative descriptors considerably modifies the grouping of common bean genotypes, the Gower algorithm being effective in grouping common bean genotypes based on the descriptors.

El experimento se llevó a cabo en la Universidad Estatal de Mato Grosso do Sul. El diseño utilizado fue bloques completamente al azar, con cuatro repeticiones, cada una con una muestra que consta de 25 semillas. Se utilizaron diez cultivares de frijol común, BRS Radiante, Pérola, Madre Pérola, BRS Estilo, BRS Esplendor, Jalo Precoce, BRS Campeiro, BRS Amethyst, BRSMG Highce y BRS Pitanga. La caracterización de los genotipos se basó en los descriptores morfológicos del cultivo, estandarizados de acuerdo con los descriptores mínimos para caracterizar variedades / cultivares de frijoles comunes. Para describir los factores cualitativos, utilizamos: Costillas en la semilla, ausentes o presentes; Color de la semilla, uniforme o desigual; Halo de semilla, ausente o presente; Color halo de semilla, mismo color de semilla o diferente de la semilla; Grupo comercial al que pertenece, blanco, carioca, jalo, mulatinho, negro, rosinha, morado o especial; Forma de semilla, esférica; elíptica: oblonga / corta reniforme; medio oblongo / reniforme; largo oblongo / reniforme; Grado de planeidad, aplanado; semi lleno lleno Mientras que los descriptores cuantitativos se midieron con la ayuda de un calibrador y una balanza analítica digital, se evaluaron: masa de cien granos (g), con humedad promedio entre 12 y 14%; longitud, ancho y grosor de la semilla (mm). El uso de descriptores cualitativos o cuantitativos modifica considerablemente la agrupación de genotipos de frijol común, siendo efectivo el algoritmo de Gower para agrupar genotipos de frijol común basados en los descriptores.O presente trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar cultivares de feijoeiro comum (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) na região de Aquidauana-MS com base no Teste de DHE (Distinguibilidade, Homogeneidade e Estabilidade). O experimento foi realizado Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul. O delineamento utilizado foi o de blocos inteiramente casualizados, com quatro repetições, cada uma contendo uma amostra composta por 25 sementes. Foram utilizadas dez cultivares de feijoeiro comum, BRS Radiante, Pérola, Madre Pérola, BRS Estilo, BRS Esplendor, Jalo Precoce, BRS Campeiro, BRS Ametista, BRSMG Realce e BRS Pitanga. A caracterização dos genótipos foi baseada nos descritores morfológicos para a cultura, padronizados conforme os Descritores Mínimos para Caracterizar Cultivares/Variedades de feijoeiro comum. Para descrever os fatores qualitativos, utilizou-se: Nervuras na semente, ausente ou presente; Cor da semente, uniforme ou desuniforme; Halo da semente, ausente ou presente; Cor do halo da semente, mesma cor da semente ou diferente da semente; Grupo Comercial a que pertence, branco, carioca,  jalo,  mulatinho,  preto, rosinha,  roxo ou especiais; Forma da semente, esférica; elíptica: oblonga/reniforme curta; oblonga/reniforme média; oblonga/reniforme longa; Grau de achatamento, achatada;  semicheia; cheia.
