Comparative analysis of cotton cultivation in the state of Mato Grosso

Resumo: The objective of this article was to carry out a historical contextualization and a contemporary evaluation of cotton production in the state of Mato Grosso. In order to reach the proposed objective, bibliographic and documentary revision techniques were used. It was found that the state of Mato Grosso stands out as the main national producer of cotton in feather, which is an important raw material for the textile industry. However, when assessing the participation of Mato Grosso in the textile production at national level, it is irrelevant, accounting for only 0.64% of the number of industrial establishments in the country in 2017. Thus, it opens space for the discussion and proposition of new studies on the performance of the agroindustrial complex of Mato Grosso cotton, as for example, in the verification of which types of factors make difficult in the consolidation of the textile industry at the analyzed locality.

Para lograr el objetivo propuesto, se utilizaron técnicas de revisión bibliográfica y documental. Se encontró que el estado de Mato Grosso se destaca como el principal productor nacional de algodón de plumas, que es una materia prima importante para la industria textil. Sin embargo, al evaluar la participación de Mato Grosso en la producción textil a nivel nacional, es irrelevante, ya que sólo representa el 0,64% del número de establecimientos industriales en el país en 2017. Así, se abre espacio para la discusión y propuesta de nuevos estudios sobre el desempeño del complejo agroindustrial del algodón de Mato Grosso, como la verificación de qué tipos de factores dificultan la consolidación de la industria textil en la ubicación analizada.Objetivou-se nesse artigo realizar uma contextualização histórica e uma avaliação contemporânea da produção de algodão no estado de Mato Grosso. Para o alcance do objetivo proposto, utilizou-se das técnicas de revisões bibliográfica e documental. Constatou-se que o estado de Mato Grosso destaca-se como o principal produtor nacional de algodão em caroço, que é uma matéria-prima importante para a indústria têxtil. No entanto, quando se avalia a participação mato-grossense na produção têxtil a nível nacional, ela se mostra irrelevante, respondendo por apenas 0,64% do número de estabelecimentos industriais do país no ano de 2017.
