Prevention and control of COVID-19 in Primary Health Care: Recommendations for health professionals

Resumo: Objective: To provide specific recommendations for infection control, prevention, and clinical management before COVID-19 for primary care health professionals. Methodology: This is a literature review searches were performed in the PubMed and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, using the combined descriptors based on the terms available in Health Sciences / Medical Subject Headings (DeCS / MeSH), search terms were: "Coronavirus infections"; "SARS-CoV-2"; "Infection control"; "Prevention and control"; " Unified Health System"; " Health Personnel "and" Family Health Strategy ". Searching for papers published between Jun/2020 and May/2021. The inclusion criterion was studied involving English and Portuguese languages, published in the period from 2020 to 2021, official documents from the Ministry of Health of Brazil and World Health Organization. Publications that did not present the objective similar to our study and duplicates were excluded.  Results: the main recommendations to be addressed to Primary Health Care professionals after reading and analyzing the selected material were: “Clinical management of flu syndrome in the (APS / ESF)”; "Identification of suspected case of influenza and covid-19 syndrome by professional category" and "The importance of Health Surveillance in the context of the pandemic". Conclusion: All members that make up the PHC health team have specific professional responsibilities and must be informed and attentive to safety recommendations to offer better assistance to users in SUS, as these guidelines are being updated amid the continuous spread of the pandemic in Brazil.

Metodología: Se trata de una revisión de la literatura, las búsquedas se realizaron en la base de datos PubMed y en la Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) desde junio de 2020 hasta mayo de 2021, utilizando los descriptores combinados en base a los términos disponibles en Health Sciences/Medical SubjectHeadings (DeCS/MeSH), entre otros términos de búsqueda fueron: "Infecciones por coronavirus", "SARS-CoV-2", "Control de infecciones", "Prevención y control", "Salud del sistema único", "Personal de salud" y "Estrategia de salud de la familia". Se adoptaron criterios de inclusión: estudios en inglés y portugués, publicados en 2020 o 2021 y documentos oficiales difundidos por el Ministerio de Salud del Brasil y la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Se excluyeron los estudios duplicados y divergentes del objetivo del estudio. Resultados: las principales recomendaciones a ser dirigidas a los profesionales de la Atención Primaria de Salud (APS) luego de la lectura y análisis del material seleccionado fueron: “Manejo clínico del síndrome gripal en la APS”; "Identificación de caso sospechoso de influenza y síndrome covid-19 por categoría profesional" y "La importancia de la Vigilancia Sanitaria en el contexto de la pandemia". Conclusión: todos los integrantes del equipo de salud de la APS tienen responsabilidades profesionales específicas y deben estar informados y atentos a recomendaciones seguras para ofrecer una mejor asistencia a los usuarios en el sistema de salud, ya que estas directrices se actualizan constantemente en medio de la continua difusión de la pandemia en Brasil.Objetivo: fornecer recomendações específicas de controle e prevenção de infecções e gerenciamento clínico diante da COVID-19 para os profissionais de saúde da atenção básica. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão da literatura, as buscas foram realizadas na base de dados PubMed e  Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde no período de junho de 2020 a maio de 2021, utilizou-se os descritores combinados a partir dos termos disponíveis no Ciências da Saúde/Medical Subject Headings (DeCS/MeSH), dentre outros termos de busca foram: "Infecções por coronavírus", "SARS-CoV-2", "Controle de infecções", "Prevenção e controle", “Sistema Único de Saúde”, “Pessoal de saúde” e “Estratégia Saúde da Família”. Adotou-se como critérios de inclusão: estudos nos idiomas inglês e português, publicados em 2020 ou 2021 e documentos oficiais divulgados pelo Ministério da Saúde do Brasil e Organização Mundial da Saúde. Foram excluídos, estudos duplicados e aqueles divergentes do objetivo. Resultados: as principais recomendações a serem abordadas para os profissionais da Atenção Primária à Saúde após leitura e análise do material selecionado foram: “Manejo clínico da síndrome gripal na Atenção Primária à Saúde”; “Identificação de caso suspeito de síndrome gripal e de covid-19 por categoria profissional” e “A importância da Vigilância em Saúde no contexto da pandemia”.
