Resumo: Newborns who are admitted to the ICU require specialized care, so the NIPS scale can be used by professionals to provide care to newborns. To identify the use of the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale to assess pain in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The present study refers to an Integrative Literature Review (RIL) of a descriptive and exploratory nature with a qualitative approach. The search for information was carried out through the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature, Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials of the Cochrane Library and the Database of Nursing (BDENF) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). Emerged in two categories: pain in the newborn and the measures used to alleviate it; the use of the NIPS scale in newborn care. In the neonatal ICU, the smallest, undergoing several procedures, having a well-trained team is essential to alleviate the newborn's pain.

Identificar el uso de la Escala de Dolor Infantil Neonatal para evaluar el dolor en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales. El presente estudio se refiere a una Revisión Integrativa de la Literatura (RIL) de carácter descriptivo y exploratorio con enfoque cualitativo. La búsqueda de información se realizó a través de la Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), el Sistema de Recuperación, Análisis y Literatura Médica en Línea (MEDLINE), el Registro Cochrane Central de Ensayos Controlados de la Biblioteca Cochrane y la Base de Datos de Enfermería (BDENF) y Biblioteca Electrónica Científica en Línea (SCIELO). Surgieron en dos categorías: el dolor en el recién nacido y las medidas utilizadas para aliviarlo; el uso de la escala NIPS en la atención del recién nacido. En la UCI neonatal, la más pequeña y sometida a varios procedimientos, contar con un equipo bien capacitado es fundamental para aliviar el dolor del recién nacido.Os recém-nascidos que são internados na UTI, necessitam de cuidados especializados, assim a escala NIPS pode ser utilizada pelos profissionais para ofertar o cuidado aos neonatos. Identificar a utilização da Neonatal Infant Pain Scale para avaliar a dor na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal. O presente estudo refere-se a uma Revisão Integrativa da Literatura (RIL) de natureza descritiva e exploratória com uma abordagem qualitativa. A busca pelas informações foi realizada através da Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Medical Literature, Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials da Cochrane Biblioteca e na Base de dados de Enfermagem (BDENF) e Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). Emergiram em duas categorias a saber: a dor no recém-nascido e as medidas usadas para aliviar; a utilização da escala de NIPS no cuidado ao RN.
