Expectations of nursing undergraduates in relation to the job market and professional career

Resumo: Objective: To identify the expectations of nursing students regarding the job market and professional career. Methodology: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, being carried out with nursing students from a private educational institution and analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results: Of the total of 103 possible surveyed, only 58 responded to the questionnaire, equivalent to 55.8% of the total, most of them middle class women, between 21 and 30 years old. It was possible to identify that 94.8% of the undergraduates wish to pursue a graduate degree and only 70.7% of the undergraduates consider themselves suitable for the job market. When asked about the intended area for action, we found in descending order of preference: Urgency and emergency, women's health, management, elderly health, child and adolescent health, intensive care unit, teaching and research, surgical center, collective health, neonatal and oncology. Conclusion: The student's expectations are to become a qualified and well-paid professional, and for this reason, he will continue to look for postgraduate, residency and master's courses, as he understands that he will be ready for the current job market that has become increasingly more demanding at the curricular level.

Metodología: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo y exploratorio, con abordaje cuantitativo y cualitativo, siendo realizado con estudiantes de enfermería de una institución educativa privada y analizado mediante la técnica de análisis de contenido. Resultados: Del total de 103 posibles encuestados, solo 58 respondieron el cuestionario, equivalente al 55,8% del total, en su mayoría mujeres de clase media, entre 21 y 30 años. Se logro identificar que el 94,8% de los estudiantes universitarios desean cursar un posgrado y solo el 70,7% de los estudiantes universitarios se consideran aptos para el mercado laboral. Al preguntar por el área de prevista para actuar, encontramos en orden decreciente de preferencia: Urgencia y emergencia, salud de la mujer, gestión, salud del adulto mayor, salud del niño y del adolescente, unidad de cuidados intensivos, docencia e investigación, centro quirúrgico, salud colectiva, neonatal y oncología. Conclusión: Las expectativas del estudiante son convertirse en un profesional calificado y bien remunerado, por lo que seguirá buscando cursos de posgrado, residencia y maestría, ya que entiende que estará preparado para el mercado laboral actual que se ha convertido. cada vez más exigentes a nivel curricular.Objetivo: Identificar a expectativa dos graduandos de enfermagem quanto ao mercado de trabalho e carreira profissional. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório, com abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa, sendo realizado com graduandos do curso de enfermagem de uma instituição de ensino privada e analisados por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Do total de 103 possíveis pesquisados, apenas 58 responderam ao questionário, equivalente a 55,8% do total, sendo a maioria mulheres de classe média, entre 21 e 30 anos. Foi possível identificar que 94,8% dos graduandos desejam realizar pós-graduação e apenas 70,7% dos graduandos se consideram aptos para o mercado de trabalho. Quando questionado a respeito da área pretendida para atuação, encontramos em ordem decrescente de preferência: Urgência e emergência, saúde da mulher, gestão, saúde do idoso, saúde da criança e do adolescente, unidade de terapia intensiva, ensino e pesquisa, centro cirúrgico, saúde coletiva, neonatal e oncologia.
