Resumo: Gastrointestinal parasites are the main obstacles faced in goats, contributing to the increase in mortality and consequent drop in animal production. This research aimed to identify the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminths in goats in a municipality in the State of Piauí. This is an experimental research of a quantitative nature. The target population of this research was 45 goats with no defined breed from a farm located in the rural area of the municipality of Teresina-PI. These animals received food and mineral salt, according to the technically recommended standard for use in the farm's herd. The 120 animals selected for the study were submitted to stool examinations and stool culture. Regardless of sex, the animals are on average two years old, with an average weight of 38kg ± 500 gr. The feces for the coproparasitological analysis were collected from the rectal ampoule of each animal. The results showed the prevalence of 84% of Haemonchus sp, 0.3% Oesophagostomun sp and 13% of Trichostrongylus sp. Therefore, a deworming scheme according to a professional's protocol is considered relevant, considering the region, habits, and other characteristics for the correct direction of dewormers, in the case of specific solutions.
