Resumo: Low back pain is one of the major causes of disability and absence in services and schools. At young age, low back pain is similar to that of adults, and is associated with seeking professional help, medication use, school absenteeism, reduced physical activity and health-related quality of life. This is a Bibliographic Review, aiming to investigate the characteristics and risk factors of low back pain in young people. Articles written in Portuguese and foreign languages were included in the electronic databases LILACS, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, SciELO, PEDro. The keywords used were: Young people, chronic low back pain, risk factors. The survey began in August 2019 and ended at the beginning of September. The variables of interest were noted by the author. A total of 16 articles were selected, 8 excluded and 8 included, all from 2010 to the recent year. The types of studies were Bibliographic Review, descriptive cross-sectional and observational cross-sectional study, with the total sample, ranging from 52 to 1597 female and male individuals. Several factors, according to the selected literature, were associated with low back pain in young people, such as physical inactivity, postures maintained for long periods, psychological factors and female gender. The literature review showed that low back pain in young people is associated with factors such as physical inactivity, postures maintained for long periods, psychological factors, negative symptoms and female gender.

A temprana edad, el dolor lumbar es similar al de los adultos y se asocia con la búsqueda de ayuda profesional, el uso de medicamentos, el ausentismo escolar, la reducción de la actividad física y la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud. Esta es una revisión bibliográfica, cuyo objetivo es investigar las características y los factores de riesgo del dolor lumbar en los jóvenes. Los artículos escritos en portugués y lenguas extranjeras se incluyeron en las bases de datos electrónicas LILACS, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, SciELO, PEDro. Las palabras clave utilizadas fueron: jóvenes, dolor lumbar crónico, factores de riesgo. La encuesta comenzó en agosto de 2019 y terminó a principios de septiembre. Las variables de interés fueron señaladas por el autor. Se seleccionaron un total de 16 artículos, 8 excluidos y 8 incluidos, todos desde 2010 hasta el año más reciente. Los tipos de estudios fueron la Revisión Bibliográfica, el estudio descriptivo transversal y el observacional transversal, con una muestra total de 52 a 1597 mujeres y hombres. Según la literatura seleccionada, varios factores se asociaron con el dolor lumbar en los jóvenes, como la inactividad física, las posturas mantenidas durante largos períodos, los factores psicológicos y el género femenino. La revisión de la literatura mostró que el dolor lumbar en los jóvenes se asocia con factores como la inactividad física, las posturas mantenidas durante largos períodos, los factores psicológicos, los síntomas negativos y el género femenino.A dor lombar é uma das maiores causas de incapacidades e afastamentos em serviços e escolas. Na idade jovem, a lombalgia é de risco semelhante ao de adultos, sendo associada à busca de ajuda profissional, uso de medicação, absenteísmo escolar, redução da prática de atividade física e da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde. Trata-se de uma Revisão Bibliográfica, com o objetivo de investigar as características e fatores de risco das lombalgias em jovens. Foram inclusos artigos escritos em idioma português e estrangeiro, nas bases de dados eletrônicas LILACS, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, SciELO, PEDro. As palavras-chaves usadas foram: Jovens, dor lombar crônica, fatores de risco. A pesquisa iniciou-se no mês de agosto de 2019 tendo término no início do mês de setembro.  As variáveis de interesse foram anotadas pelo autor. Ao total foram selecionados 16 artigos, excluídos 8 e restando 8 inclusos, todos do ano de 2010 até o ano recente. Os tipos de estudos foram revisão bibliográfica, estudo transversal descritivo e observacional transversal, com o total de amostra, variando de 52 a 1597 indivíduos do sexo feminino e masculino. Vários fatores, segundo as literaturas selecionadas foram associados à dor lombar em jovens, destacando-se inatividade física, posturas mantidas por longos períodos, fatores psicológicos e o sexo feminino.
