Resumo: | Objective: This study aimed to verify the experience of toothache according to the family risk in a city in the northeast of Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. A total of 150 individuals who were waiting for care at a Family Health Unit participated in the study. For data collection, two questionnaires were applied, one to verify the experience of toothache and the other to classify the family risk. Results: 52.0% of the research participants had family risk, among them 68.2% reported toothache in the last six months. Cavity was pointed as the main cause of color. As for the duration 67.3% of the participants of this study stated that it usually lasted a day or more, causing negative interferences in the quality of life. Most participants defined toothache as severe on both the verbal scale (52.7%) and the visual scale (62.0%). Conclusion: Participants who presented family risk were the most affected by toothache in the last six months, demonstrating that the classification of family risk according to the experience of toothache can guide the reorganization of demand and prioritize dental care for the most vulnerable individuals. |
