Rockfall index and geological-geotechnical characterization on road slopes: a case study on BR-262

Resumo: The geological-geotechnical characterization of slopes on highways is important for the safety of the road, as these studies make it possible to develop prevention and warning programs and the implementation of works to reduce hazard in these undertakings. Thus, this paper aimed at the geological-geotechnical characterization and assessment of the hazard of rockfall from the slopes located on the BR-262 highway, between Betim and Nova Serrana, in Minas Gerais. Regarding the classification of rock mass, the RMR, Q-System and GSI systems were applied. Subsequently, kinematic analysis, stability analysis were carried out and finally slopes were ranked according to the danger of falling blocks. In none of the slopes the RMR was lower than the regular one. The results of the other classifications were in agreement with the RMR. Safety factors indicated that the slopes are stable. The slope with the highest degree of danger was the P4 - A slope and the one with the least danger was the PM1 slope.

The slope with the highest degree of danger was the P4 - A slope and the one with the least danger was the PM1 slope.La valoración geológico-geotécnica de los taludes viales es de suma importancia para la seguridad de la carretera, ya que a partir de estos estudios es posible desarrollar programas de prevención y alerta y la ejecución de obras para la reducción de daños en estos emprendimientos. Así, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo la caracterización geológico-geotécnica y la evaluación de la peligrosidad de caída de bloques de los taludes ubicados en la carretera BR-262, entre las ciudades de Betim y Nova Serrana, en Minas Gerais. La clasificación de macizos se aplicaron los sistemas RMR, Q-System y GSI. Posteriormente, se realizaron análisis cinemáticos, análisis de estabilidad y finalmente se clasificaron los taludes según el peligro de caída de bloques. En ninguna de las setores lo RMR fue menor que la regular. Los resultados de las otras clasificaciones coincidieron con el RMR. Los factores de seguridad indicaron que las pendientes son estables. La pendiente con mayor grado de peligro fue la pendiente P4 - A y la de menor peligro fue la pendiente PM1.A avaliação geológico-geotécnica de taludes rodoviários são de extrema importância para a segurança da via, pois a partir destes estudos é possível elaborar programas de prevenção e de alerta e a implantação de obras para redução dos danos nestes empreendimentos. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo a caracterização geológico-geotécnica e avaliação do perigo à queda de blocos dos taludes localizados às margens da rodovia BR-262, entre as cidades de Betim e Nova Serrana, em Minas Gerais. Em relação a classificação dos maciços foram aplicados os sistemas RMR, Sistema-Q e GSI. Posteriormente, foram realizadas, análise cinemática, análise de estabilidade e por fim taludes foram hierarquizados conforme o perigo à queda de blocos. Em nenhum dos taludes o RMR foi inferior à regular. Os resultados das demais classificações foram concordantes com o RMR. Os fatores de segurança indicaram que os taludes estão estáveis.
