The transfusion act and hemovigilance in the Emergency Care Unit of Icoaraci, Belém, Pará

Resumo: | Introduction: Blood has essential components for life. Hemovigilance, based on hemotherapy, guarantees the safety of the donor and recipient. Objective: To investigate the transfusion act and the hemovigilance service in the Emergency Care Unit of Icoaraci, Belém, Pará. Methodology: This is an exploratory, qualitative and quantitative study, of the action research type, using convenience sampling , being retrospective for the period from September to December 2022 and prospective for the period from January to February 2023, with a situational diagnosis of the service carried out and the proposition of a model of action for the pharmaceutical professional in the process. Results: It is recorded that December 2022 presented the highest number of blood transfusions, with February 2023 presenting the highest number of post-transfusion reactions (10 cases). Of the transfused patients, there was a prevalence of female patients (55%), with an average age of 42 years. Among the clinical manifestations, the hypertensive peak stood out. The most used blood component was packed red blood cells. Non-conformities were also observed in relation to the technical regulations for hemotherapeutic procedures. Finally, Continuing Education was used to guide the correct performance of the transfusion act. Conclusion: It is recommended to reflect on the importance of the pharmacist's role in hemotherapy; as well as their inclusion in the multidisciplinary team responsible for hemotherapy. |

La hemovigilancia, basada en la hemoterapia, garantiza la seguridad del donante y del receptor. Objetivo: Investigar el acto de transfusión y el servicio de hemovigilancia en la Unidad de Emergencia de Icoaraci, Belém, Pará. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio exploratorio, cualitativo y cuantitativo, del tipo investigación acción, utilizando muestreo por conveniencia, siendo retrospectivo para el período. de septiembre a diciembre de 2022 y prospectivo para el periodo de enero a febrero de 2023, con un diagnóstico situacional del servicio realizado y la propuesta de un modelo de actuación del profesional farmacéutico en el proceso. Resultados: Se registra que diciembre de 2022 presentó el mayor número de transfusiones de sangre, siendo febrero de 2023 el mayor número de reacciones postransfusionales (10 casos). De los pacientes transfundidos predominó el sexo femenino (55%), con una edad promedio de 42 años. Entre las manifestaciones clínicas destacó el pico hipertensivo. El componente sanguíneo más utilizado fueron los concentrados de glóbulos rojos. También se observaron no conformidades en relación con los reglamentos técnicos para procedimientos hemoterapéuticos. Finalmente, se utilizó la Educación Continua para orientar la correcta realización del acto transfusional. Conclusión: Se recomienda reflexionar sobre la importancia del papel del farmacéutico en hemoterapia; así como su inclusión en el equipo multidisciplinario responsable de la hemoterapia.Introdução: O sangue possui componentes essenciais à vida.
