Resumo: Mining represents most of the economy of the state of Pará, an activity whose environmental impacts on water bodies need special attention. In this sense, this study sought to optimize a monitoring network for a Large Mining Project (GPM) located in the Eastern Amazon, selecting which parameters effectively influenced the water quality in the region. For this purpose, water quality reports provided by environmental agencies were used to model a statistical treatment by Principal Component Analysis (ACP) in the parameters considered by the company. The results showed that, of the 60 parameters originally adopted, only 12 represent significant alterations identified, proving that the reduction of the analyzed variables does not imply the network compromise. Thus, it was possible to verify that this method is valid to reduce maintenance costs of the monitoring network and to make the process of evaluation of technical reports by the State more agile, benefiting both parties in an environmental licensing process.

Research, Society and Development2020-02-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/259610.33448/rsd-v9i3.2596Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 3; e99932596Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 3; e99932596Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 3; e999325962525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/2596/1968Copyright (c) 2019 Shara Alexandre da Silva, Luiz Eduardo Chaves de Azevedo, Gabriel Villas Boas de Amorim Lima, Marina Morhy Pereira, Ivan Roberto Santos Araújoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSilva, Shara Alexandre daAzevedo, Luiz Eduardo Chaves deLima, Gabriel Villas Boas de AmorimPereira, Marina MorhyAraújo, Ivan Roberto Santos2020-08-20T18:07:57Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/2596Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:27:08.694297Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
