Blood count suryey of elderly people in the laboratory diagnosis of anemia in private laboratory in Ubiratã – PR

Resumo: The objective of the study was to verify the prevalence of changes in blood counts of the elderly performed in a private laboratory, in the city of Ubiratã - PR, from January to June 2022. This is an exploratory research with a descriptive character of a quantitative approach, performed through the analysis of laboratory reports of blood count of individuals over 60 years of age. The sample result obtained was 1332 reports during the study period. Regarding gender, it was observed that 60% (801 elderly) were female. Of the total, 375 (28.15%) had anemia. The highest prevalence of anemia occurred in males (15.62%) whose age range was 70 to 79 years. A high number of female patients had macrocytosis (39.36%), and a significant number of tests showed anisocytosis (13.59%). Most laboratory tests for anemia of the elderly analyzed remain within the specified reference parameters. Cases of anemia found should not be ignored, because according to the WHO, this portion is high compared to the healthy population.      Keywords: Anemia; Elderly; Blood count; Hemoglobin.

Se trata de una investigación exploratoria con carácter descriptivo de corte cuantitativo. enfoque, realizado a través del análisis de informes de laboratorio de biometría hemática de personas mayores de 60 años. El resultado muestral obtenido fue de 1332 informes durante el periodo de estudio. En cuanto al género, se observó que el 60% (801 ancianos) eran del sexo femenino. Del total, 375 (28,15%) tenían anemia. La mayor prevalencia de anemia se presentó en el sexo masculino (15,62%) cuyo rango de edad fue de 70 a 79 años. Un alto número de pacientes de sexo femenino presentó macrocitosis (39,36%) y un número significativo de exámenes mostró anisocitosis (13,59%). La mayoría de las pruebas de laboratorio para la anemia del anciano analizadas se mantienen dentro de los parámetros de referência especificados. Los casos de anemia encontrados no deben ser ignorados, pues según la OMS, esta porción es alta en comparación con la población sana.O obejtivo do estudo foi verificar a prevalência de alterções em hemogramas de idosos realizados em um laboratório particular, no município de Ubiratã – PR, no período de janeiro a junho de 2022. Trata -se de uma pesquisa exploratória com caráter descritivo de abordagem quantitativa, realizada através da análise de laudos laboratoriais de hemograma de indivíduos com mais de 60 anos. O resultado amostral obtido foi de 1332 laudos no período do estudo. Em relação ao gênero observou-se que 60% (801 idosos) eram pertencentes ao sexo feminino. Do total 375 (28,15%) apresentaram anemia. A maior prevalência de anemia ocorreu em indivíduos do sexo masculino (15,62%) cuja a faixa etária foi de 70 a 79 anos. Um valor elevado de pacientes do sexo feminino apresentou macrocitose (39,36%), e um valor significativo de exames que apresentaram anisocitose (13,59%). A maioria os exames laboratoriais de anemia dos idosos analisados permanecem dentro dos parâmetros de referência especificados.
