Spatio-temporal analysis of the expansion of soybean cultivation in Uruçuí - Piauí

Resumo: | From the 1970s onwards, agribusiness in Brazil expanded, giving rise to the growth of agricultural production. The state of Piauí, in this context, began its process of agricultural modernization with the expansion of grains cultivation- mainly soybeans - in areas of the cerrado, a practice that was consolidated in the 1990s. One of the prominent municipalities in the state's soybean production is Uruçuí, and in view of the importance of agribusiness in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), this research was developed with the objective of analyzing and highlighting the evolution of soybean cultivation in Uruçuí, using technologies such as geographic information systems and the digital processing of remote sensing images, between 1985 and 2020. For that, it started with a bibliographic and cartographic investigation. A survey of production data was conducted on the website of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), using maps of land cover and use, statistical data and mosaics from collection 6 of the MapBiomas system, relating to the period. The consolidation of land productive modernization and the changes in the landscapes derived from agriculture in Uruçuí in the last 20 years have been confirmed, with emphasis on the production of soy. Furthermore, it was verified the geotechnologies agility and precision in the automatic capture of data related to the terrestrial surface for the management, analysis, and presentation of the generated information, which can be of great benefit to rural development policies and to the growth of the agribusiness in a sustainable way. |

El estado de Piauí, en ese contexto, inició su proceso de modernización agrícola con la expansión del cultivo de granos - principalmente soja- en áreas del Cerrado, práctica que se consolidó en la década de 1990 y en vista de la importancia de los agronegocios en el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) del municipio, se desarrolló esta investigación, con el objetivo de analizar y destacar la evolución del cultivo de soja en Uruçuí, utilizando tecnologías como sistemas de información geográfica y el procesamiento digital de imágenes de teledetección, en el intersticio de 1985 a 2020. Para ello, se partió de una investigación bibliográfica y cartográfica. Se realizó un levantamiento de datos de producción en el sitio web del Instituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística (IBGE), utilizando mapas de cobertura y uso del suelo, datos estadísticos y mosaicos de la colección 6 del sistema MapBiomas, relativos al período mencionado. Se ha constatado la consolidación de la modernización productiva de la tierra y los cambios en los paisajes derivados de la agricultura en Uruçuí en los últimos 20 años, con énfasis en la producción de soja. Además, se comprobó la agilidad y precisión de las geotecnologías en la captura automática de datos relacionados con la superficie terrestre para la gestión, análisis y presentación de la información generada, que puede ser de gran beneficio para las políticas de desarrollo rural y para el crecimiento del agronegocio de manera sostenible.A partir da década de 1970, o agronegócio no Brasil expandiu-se, ensejando o crescimento da produção agrícola. O estado do Piauí, por sua vez, iniciou o seu processo de modernização agrícola com a expansão do cultivo de grãos - principalmente soja – em áreas do cerrado, prática que se consolidou nos anos 1990. Um dos municípios destaque na sojicultura do estado é Uruçuí, e tendo em vista a importância do agronegócio no Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) do município, desenvolveu-se esta pesquisa com o objetivo de analisar e evidenciar a evolução do cultivo da soja em Uruçuí, utilizando tecnologias como os sistemas de informação geográfica e o processamento digital de imagens de sensoriamento remoto, no interstício de 1985 a 2020. Para tanto, partiu-se de uma investigação bibliográfica e cartográfica. Cumpriu-se o levantamento dos dados de produção no site do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), lançando mão dos mapas de cobertura e uso do solo, dados estatísticos e mosaicos da coleção 6 do sistema MapBiomas, atinentes ao período supracitado. Comprovou-se a consolidação da modernização produtiva da terra e as mudanças nas paisagens derivadas da agricultura em Uruçuí, nos últimos 20 anos, com destaque para a produção de soja.
