Epidemiological and clinical profile of patients admitted to a public hospital with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Resumo: | This research aims to describe the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is characterized as an exploratory study, using a form with epidemiological and clinical questions in 88 patients. After descriptive statistical analysis, 46.6% were aged between 60 and 79 years old, 56.8% female, 62.5% with incomplete elementary education, 77.3% not working, 78.4% with income of 1 salary, 36.4% married, 65.9% with a family history of DM, 39.8% smokers, 40.9% alcohol users and 13.6% practice physical activities. In addition, 55.7% reported self-care, 27.3% are amputated, 13.6% undergo nutritional monitoring, 12.5% with angiologists, 40.9% control capillary blood glucose, 77.3% had weight loss, 76, 1% polyuria, 68.2% polydipsia, 72.7% nocturia, 29.5% generalized itching, 65,9% slow wound healing, 84.1% retinopathy, 14.8% nephropathy, and 75% neuropathy. The main conclusions are that the design of the epidemiological profile contributed to investigate the characteristics of DM2 involvement. |

Se caracteriza por ser un estudio exploratorio, utilizando un formulario con preguntas epidemiológicas y clínicas en 88 pacientes. Después del análisis estadístico descriptivo, 46.6% tenían edades comprendidas entre 60 y 79 años, 56.8% mujeres, 62.5% con educación primaria incompleta, 77.3% no trabaja, 78.4% con ingresos de 1 salario, 36.4% casados, 65.9% con antecedentes familiares de DM, 39.8% fumadores, 40.9% consumidores de alcohol y 13.6% practican actividades físicas. Además, el 55.7% informó autocuidado, el 27.3% está amputado, el 13.6% se somete a monitoreo nutricional, el 12.5% con angiólogos, el 40.9% controla la glucemia capilar, el 77.3% tenía pérdida de peso, 76, 1% poliuria, 68.2% polidipsia, 72.7% nocturia, 29.5% picazón generalizada, 65.9% cicatrización lenta de heridas, 84.1% retinopatía, 14.8% nefropatía y 75% neuropatía. Las principales conclusiones son que el diseño del perfil epidemiológico contribuyó a investigar las características de la participación de DM2.Esta pesquisa objetiva descrever as características epidemiológicas e clínicas dos pacientes com Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2. Caracteriza-se como estudo exploratório, sendo aplicado formulário com questões epidemiológicas e clínicas em 88 pacientes. Após análise estatística descritiva, encontrou-se 46,6% com idades entre 60 e 79 anos, sendo 56,8% do sexo feminino, 62,5% com ensino fundamental incompleto, 77,3% que não trabalham, 78,4% com renda de 1 salário, 36,4% casados, 65,9% com histórico familiar de DM, 39,8% tabagistas, 40,9% etilistas e 13,6% praticam atividades físicas. Ademais, 55,7% relataram autocuidado, 27,3% são amputados, 13,6% realizam acompanhamento nutricional, 12,5% com angiologistas, 40,9% controlam a glicemia capilar, 77,3% apresentaram perda de peso, 76,1% poliúria, 68,2% polidipsia, 72,7% nictúria, 29,5% prurido generalizado, 65,9% cicatrização lenta de ferimentos, 84,1% retinopatia, 14,8% nefropatia, e 75% neuropatia.
