Analysis of the occurrence of accidents involving venomous animals in the Municipality of Caxias, state of Maranhão, Brazil

Resumo: | This article aimed to determine the prevalence of accidents involving venomous animals in the city of Caxias-MA in the period from 2016 to 2019. It is a descriptive, documentary, retrospective study, with a quantitative approach, carried out in the period from 2016 to 2019 , having as universe of data notifications of accidents with venomous animals in the city of Caxias-MA. Data were collected through the disease information and notification system (SINAN) made available by the Ministry of Health. Regarding the results, a study evaluated 997 reported cases of accidents involving venomous animals in the city of Caxias-MA, in the period from 2016 to 2019, as for the profile of the identified individuals, there was a prevalence of males (55.97%), age group of 20 at 59 years old (59.88%), education of the injured was incomplete elementary school (37.41%), most were brown (92.38%), with the highest number of occurrences in 2018 (32.60%), most accidents involve scorpions, (59.98%). As for the species of snakes, Crotalus was the most prevalent (59.76%), the time of attendance after the bite occurred between one to three hours after the accident (50.65%) of the records. The study allowed analyzing the prevalence of accidents involving venomous animals during a time frame (2016 to 2019), in which an increase in the number of cases and a small oscillation over the years were observed. In this regard, nursing plays an important role in the prevention of these diseases, since it is constantly in contact with patients who seek hospital care. |

Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, documental, retrospectivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, realizado en el período de 2016 a 2019. , teniendo como universo de datos notificaciones de accidentes con animales venenosos en la ciudad de Caxias-MA. Los datos fueron recolectados a través del Sistema de Información y Notificación de Enfermedades (SINAN) puesto a disposición por el Ministerio de Salud. En cuanto a los resultados, un estudio evaluó 997 casos reportados de accidentes de animales venenosos en la ciudad de Caxias-MA, en el período de 2016 a 2019, en cuanto al perfil de los individuos identificados, hubo una prevalencia masculina (55,97%), grupo de edad de 20 a los 59 años (59,88%), la escolaridad de los heridos era primaria incompleta (37,41%), la mayoría eran morenos (92,38%), con mayor número de ocurrencias en 2018 (32,60%), la mayoría de los accidentes involucran escorpiones (59,98%). En cuanto a la especie de serpiente, Crotalus fue la más prevalente (59,76%), el tiempo de servicio posterior a la mordedura se produjo entre una a tres horas después del accidente (50,65%) de los registros. El estudio permitió analizar la prevalencia de accidentes con animales venenosos durante un período de tiempo (2016 a 2019), en el que se observó un aumento en el número de casos y una pequeña oscilación a lo largo de los años. En este sentido, la enfermería juega un papel importante en la prevención de estas enfermedades, ya que está en constante contacto con los pacientes que buscan atención hospitalaria.O presente artigo teve como objetivo determinar a prevalência de acidentes envolvendo animais peçonhentos no município de Caxias-MA no período de 2016 a 2019. Quanto aos resultados, estudo avaliou 997 casos notificados de acidentes envolvendo animais peçonhentos no município de Caxias-MA, no período de 2016 a 2019, quanto ao perfil dos indivíduos identificados houve prevalência do sexo masculino (55,97%), faixa etária de 20 a 59 anos (59,88%), escolaridade dos acidentados era de ensino fundamental incompleto (37,41%), a maioria eram pardos (92,38%), com maior número de ocorrência em 2018 (32,60%), a maioria dos acidentes envolve escorpiões, (59,98%). Quanto às espécies de serpentes a Crotalus foi a mais prevalente (59,76%), o tempo de atendimento após a picada ocorreram entre uma a três horas após o acidente (50,65%) dos registros. O estudo permitiu analisar a prevalência de acidentes que envolveram animais peçonhentos durante um recorte temporal (2016 a 2019), em que foi observado um aumento no número de casos e uma pequena oscilação no decorrer dos anos.
