Analysis of risks in the tank cleaning activity of a storage and fuel distribution company of Governador Valadares City

Resumo: The internal cleaning of fuel storage tanks involves great risk, since it is carried out in a confined space. This type of activity is carried out in a fuel storage and distribution company in Governador Valadares-MG. In order to guide the cleaning of the storage tanks, the company prepared a manual of procedures that discusses the risks of the activity. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the cleaning procedures manual, in order to verify if it predicts and addresses all risks related to the activity. The analysis of this material showed that only five out of ten risks inherent to the tank cleaning activity are addressed in the manual, and three out of those five have preventive measures. The absence of other risks in the manual can compromise the proper and safe cleaning of the tanks. This study revealed the need to change the manual used by the company, in order to foresee all the risks to which workers are exposed, as well as provide preventive and control measures, in compliance with current regulatory standards, in order to provide a safer work environment.

Ese tipo de actividad se realiza en una empresa de almacenamiento y distribución de combustibles en el municipio de Governador Valadares-MG. Para guiar la limpieza de los tanques de almacenamiento, la compañía preparó un manual de procedimientos que analiza los riesgos presentes en la actividad. En ese contexto, el estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar el manual de procedimientos de limpieza, a fin de verificar si predice y aborda todos los riesgos inherentes a la actividad. El análisis del material reveló que de los diez riesgos vinculados a la limpieza del tanque, solo cinco se abordan en el manual, y de esos, solo se establecen tres medidas preventivas. La ausencia de otros riesgos en el manual puede comprometer la limpieza adecuada y segura de los tanques. Ese estudio reveló la necesidad de la alteración del manual por parte de la empresa, para prever todos los peligros a los que están expuestos los trabajadores, así como estipular medidas preventivas y de control, de conformidad con las normas reguladoras actuales, para proporcionar un entorno de trabajo más seguro.A limpeza interna de tanques de armazenamento de combustíveis envolve grande risco, uma vez que é realizada em espaço confinado. Esse tipo de atividade é executado em uma empresa de armazenamento e distribuição de combustíveis no município de Governador Valadares-MG. A fim de orientar a condução da limpeza dos tanques de armazenamento, a empresa elaborou um manual de procedimentos que discorre sobre os riscos presentes na atividade. Nesse contexto, o estudo teve por objetivo analisar o manual de procedimentos de limpeza, visando constatar se ele prevê e aborda todos os riscos inerentes à atividade. A análise do referido material revelou que dos dez riscos vinculados à limpeza dos tanques, apenas cinco são abordados no manual, e desses, para apenas três são estabelecidas medidas preventivas. A ausência dos demais riscos no manual pode comprometer a realização adequada e segura da limpeza dos tanques.
