Resumo: The present work consists of analyzing the data of hot spots and land use and cover between the years 2000 to 2019 for the municipality of Poconé-MT. The data of heat sources were acquired in the shapefile format of the present satellites: AQUA, ATSR, METOP, MSG, NOAA, NPP, TRMM, TERRA, GOES from the MODIS sensor for allowing the analysis of temporal trends. The data on land use and cover were obtained through the Mapbiomas program. In relation to the hot spots for the years studied, it was observed that, in almost the entire extension of the municipality, it was covered by hot spots in the year 2019. In all studied period (2000 to 2019) there was an increase in the hot spots about 22 times, a fact never seen before in the history of satellite space monitoring. From the data collected, it was possible to identify that approximately 90% of the hot spots occurred in the months from September to December. In this, about 27,005 hot spots incident in the municipality of Poconé were identified, therefore, in these months, inspection actions by the civil defense and environmental agencies should be intensified in order to prevent illegal fires and accidents with the population. With the increase in cattle breeding and agriculture in these areas, it is necessary to maintain environmental monitoring systems such as those of INPE, with safety and clarity, in order to contribute to measures for the management of natural resources. In this sense, the results achieved in this study help to prevent and combat forest fires and changes in land use and coverage, thus creating subsidies for possible mechanisms and public policies aimed at planning the territory.
