Pharmaceutical Care in Primary Care in Brazil compared to Spain and the United Kingdom – Literary review

Resumo: Introduction: Pharmaceutical assistance allows the primary care pharmacist to guide patients, through clinical consultation, on the proper use of prescribed drugs, making treatment safer and more effective, curbing polypharmacy problems and automatically collaborating in the reduction of health system costs. Materials and methods: A literature review was carried out comparing Spain and the United Kingdom with Brazil, taking into account that these countries were developed and had good references regarding Pharmaceutical Care in Primary Care. Results and discussion: In the technical-assistance sphere, Brazilian pharmacists can dispense over-the-counter medications (MIPs), carry out consultations and monitor patients. In the United Kingdom, in addition to prescribing some drugs, during the clinical consultation, pharmacists can act in prevention, detection and discussions in order to solve the risks of drug-related problems. In Spain, the pharmacist has a guiding role and cannot prescribe medication, during consultations, pharmacological indications are made in order to solve problems related to medication, effectively contributing to the control of pharmacotherapeutic treatment together with doctors and nurses. In Brazil and the United Kingdom, restrictions were reported that made it difficult to apply pharmaceutical care in practice, such as the accumulation of managerial activities, inadequate facilities, lack of managerial support and inappropriate resources, in addition to the lack of recognition from the community and other professionals in the field. health. In the Spanish public network, pharmaceutical assistance is already well established, however, in private community pharmacies, professionals report problems similar to those mentioned above. Conclusion: It was evident the need to increase the awareness of users and other agents in the area about the importance of pharmaceutical care in primary care.

Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica comparando España y Reino Unido con Brasil, teniendo en cuenta que estos países son países desarrollados y con buenas referencias en cuanto a Atención Farmacéutica en Atención Primaria. Resultados y discusión: Los farmacéuticos brasileños pueden dispensar medicamentos sin receta, realizar consultas y acompañar a los pacientes. En Reino Unido, además de prescribir algunos medicamentos, durante la consulta clínica, los farmacéuticos pueden actuar en prevención, detección y debates para solucionar los riesgos de problemas relacionados con los medicamentos. En España el farmacéutico tiene un papel rector y no puede prescribir medicamentos, en las consultas se dan indicaciones farmacológicas para solucionar problemas relacionados con la medicación. En Brasil y Reino Unido se reportaron restricciones que dificultaron la aplicación de la atención farmacéutica en la práctica, como la acumulación de actividades gerenciales, instalaciones inadecuadas, falta de apoyo gerencial y recursos inadecuados, además de la falta de reconocimiento por parte de la comunidad. y otros profesionales en el campo de la salud. En la red pública española la asistencia farmacéutica ya está muy consolidada, sin embargo, en las farmacias comunitarias privadas los profesionales refieren problemas similares a los comentados anteriormente. Conclusión: Se evidenció la necesidad de sensibilizar a los usuarios y otros agentes del área sobre la importancia de la atención farmacéutica en la atención primaria.Introdução: A assistência Farmacêutica permite que o farmacêutico da atenção primária oriente os pacientes, através  da consulta clínica, sobre o uso adequado dos medicamentos, tornando o tratamento mais seguro e eficaz. Materiais e métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica comparando a Espanha e o Reino Unido com o Brasil, levando em consideração que esses países eram desenvolvidos e possuíam boas referências quanto ao Cuidado Farmacêutico na Atenção Primária. Resultados e discussão: Os farmacêuticos brasileiros podem dispensar medicamentos isentos de prescrição médica, realizar consultas e fazer o acompanhamento dos pacientes. No Reino Unido, além de prescrever alguns medicamentos, durante a consulta clínica os farmacêuticos podem atuar na prevenção, detecção e discussões a fim de resolver os riscos de problemas relacionados aos fármacos. Na Espanha o farmacêutico tem papel orientador e não pode prescrever medicamentos, durante as consultas são realizadas indicações farmacológicas a fim de solucionar problemas relacionados aos medicamentos. No Brasil e no Reino Unido foram relatadas restrições que dificultavam a aplicação do Cuidado farmacêutico na prática, tais como, o acúmulo de atividades gerencias, instalações inadequadas, falta de suporte gerencial e recursos inapropriados, além da falta de reconhecimento da comunidade e outros profissionais da saúde. Na rede pública Espanhola a assistência farmacêutica já é bem consolidada, porém, nas farmácias comunitárias privadas, os profissionais relatam problemas semelhantes aos mencionados anteriormente.
