Resumo: This research brings a bibliographic survey on the ethnoknowledge of medicinal plants and, in particular, on the latex of the species Himatanthus Drasticus (Mart.) Plumel, popularly known as Janaúba. Some articles and electronic documents available in a scientific database in the last 10 years were analyzed. Therefore, it was noted that it is noticeable that janaúba is a medicinal plant with great benefits for humans, but when it comes to the commercialization of pharmacological formulations, it is still little investigated. Therefore, this medicinal plant needs further studies on the phytochemical test and the elucidation of the therapeutic potential of Janaúba latex.

Plumel, conocida popularmente como Janaúba. Se analizaron algunos artículos y documentos electrónicos disponibles en una base de datos científica en los últimos 10 años. Por lo tanto, se observó que se destaca que la janaúba es una planta medicinal con grandes beneficios para el ser humano, pero cuando se trata de la comercialización de formulaciones farmacológicas, todavía es poco investigada. Por lo tanto, esta planta medicinal necesita más estudios sobre la prueba fitoquímica y la elucidación del potencial terapéutico del látex de Janaúba.Esta pesquisa traz um levantamento bibliográfico sobre o etnoconhecimento das plantas medicinais e, em especial, sobre o látex da espécie Himatanthus Drasticus (Mart.) Plumel, conhecida popularmente como Janaúba. Foram analisados alguns artigos e documentos eletrônicos disponíveis em uma base de dados científicos nos últimos 10 anos. Portanto, notou-se que é perceptível que o janaúba é uma planta medicinal com grandes benefícios para o ser humano, mas se tratando de comercialização de formulações farmacológicas ainda é pouco investigado.
