Brazilian scientific production on kitesurfing in Barra Grande, municipality of Cajueiro da Praia-PI, Brazil

Resumo: Barra Grande, a village located in the municipality of Cajueiro da Praia-PI, Brazil, is considered one of the main national and international tourist destinations for Kitesurfing nowadays. With this in mind, the present study aims to map and analyze the Brazilian scientific production on kitesurfing in this location, in order to understand how Brazilian researchers approach this sport in their studies. This research has a qualitative nature that adopted as a strategy, for exploratory and descriptive purposes, the bibliographic literature review, which was carried out in the Capes Theses and Dissertations Catalog database, in productions published from 2000 to 2021. The results showed for 105 works, between theses and dissertations, eight dissertations being selected for analysis. With the treatment of the data, it was found that the works are, mostly (62.50%), produced in Graduate Programs of the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), with emphasis on the areas of Anthropology and Archeology. Tourism and development in Barra Grande are the main topics discussed, with kitesurfing being the main driver of these phenomena in recent decades. Scientific production is still scarce and needs further studies. Although kitesurfing is investigated in a secondary way in the analyzed works, its importance for the recognition of the village as a national and international tourist destination is noted.

Así que el presente estudio tiene como objetivo mapear y analizar la producción científica brasileña sobre el kitesurf en esta localidad, con el fin de comprender cómo los investigadores brasileños abordan este deporte en sus estudios. Esta investigación cualitativa adoptó como estrategia con fines exploratorios y descriptivos la revisión de literatura bibliográfica, que se realizó en la base de datos del Catálogo de Tesis y Disertaciones de la Capes, en producciones publicadas entre 2000 y 2021. Los resultados mostraron 105 trabajos, entre tesis y disertaciones, ocho tesis siendo seleccionadas para el análisis. Con el tratamiento de los datos, se constató que los trabajos son en su mayoría (62,50%), producidos en Programas de Posgrado de la Universidad Federal de Piauí (UFPI), con énfasis en las áreas de Antropología y Arqueología. El turismo y el desarrollo en Barra Grande son los principales temas discutidos, siendo el kitesurf el principal impulsor de estos fenómenos en las últimas décadas. La producción científica es todavía escasa y necesita más estudios. Aun que sea el kitesurf investigado de manera secundaria en los trabajos analizados, se advierte su importancia para el reconocimiento de la localidad como destino turístico nacional e internacional.Considera-se Barra Grande, povoado localizado no município de Cajueiro da Praia-PI, Brasil, um dos principais destinos turísticos nacionais e internacionais para a prática de kitesurf na atualidade. Tendo isso em vista, o presente estudo objetiva mapear e analisar as produções científicas brasileiras sobre o kitesurf nessa localidade, a fim de compreender como pesquisadores/as brasileiros/as abordam esse esporte em seus estudos. Esta pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, adotou como estratégia para fins exploratórios e descritivos a revisão de literatura bibliográfica, que se cumpriu na base de dados do Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Capes, em produções publicadas no período de 2000 a 2021. Os resultados apontaram para 105 trabalhos, entre teses e dissertações, sendo selecionadas oito dissertações para análise. Com o tratamento dos dados, constatou-se que os trabalhos são, em sua maioria (62.50%), produzidos em Programas de Pós-Graduação da Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI), com destaque para as áreas de Antropologia e Arqueologia. Turismo e desenvolvimento em Barra Grande são as principais temáticas discutidas, sendo a prática do kitesurf a principal indutora desses fenômenos nas últimas décadas. A produção científica ainda é escassa e carece de mais estudos.
