Resumo: The effect of the 2,4-D herbicide on maize varieties grown in the western Amazon is still unknown. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of 2,4–D applied post-emergence on the agronomic performance of creole maize compared to commercial cultivars. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design in a 6 x 2 split plot, with four replications. In the plots, six corn cultivars were sown, being a commercial variety (BR 451), two hybrids (BRS 3049 and DKB 290 VTPRO3) and three creoles (Dente de Cavalo, Ferro and Peruano) and in subplots, treatments with the 2,4-D herbicide were arranged: T1 (0 g a.i. ha-1) and T2 (1,209 g a.i. ha-1). Phytotoxicity assessments were performed at 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after treatment (DAT), and yield parameters at 109 days after planting. Herbicide application significantly affected ear diameter with and without straw, ear insertion height, number of grains per row, number of rows per ear and number of grains per ear and weight of 100 grains of the cultivars. Phytotoxicity was higher in Creole cultivars. Grain yield was not influenced by herbicide application and the highest average was obtained by the hybrid DKB 290 VTPRO3 and the lowest by the Peruano creole.
