Resumo: The rain distribution in the Brazilian semiarid region has complex characteristics, which can be better understood with the analysis of frequencies and descriptive statistics of the data. The objective was to analyze the frequency distribution and descriptive statistics of monthly and interannual rainfall fluctuations in the municipalities of São Bento do Una and Serra Talhada, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the mean, median, standard deviation, maximum and minimum absolute values, coefficient of variation, asymmetric coefficient and kurtosis coefficient, of the rainfalls under study. The distribution of the average annual rainfall frequency was analyzed for the municipalities of São Bento do Uma and Serra Talhada, in the period between 1920 to 2019. Climatic variability was identified, resulting in rainfall irregularity that concentrates extremes of precipitation on some days of the year, generating disturbances the society. The availability of water has repercussions in practically all human and animal activities, being indispensable for their survival, for the coexistence of situations motivated by extreme climatic events arising from their variability in the studied cities, it is essential to know the climatic behavior of precipitation, combined with technical and natural resources that support the development of municipalities.

El objetivo fue analizar la distribución de frecuencias y las estadísticas descriptivas de las fluctuaciones mensuales e interanuales de las precipitaciones en los municipios de São Bento do Una y Serra Talhada, estado de Pernambuco, Brasil. Se utilizaron estadísticas descriptivas para determinar la media, la mediana, la desviación estándar, los valores absolutos máximos y mínimos, el coeficiente de variación, el coeficiente asimétrico y el coeficiente de curtosis, de las precipitaciones en estudio. La distribución de la frecuencia de precipitación anual promedio se analizó para los municipios de São Bento do Uma y Serra Talhada, en el período comprendido entre 1920 y 2019. Se identificó la variabilidad climática, lo que resultó en una irregularidad de la lluvia que concentra extremos de precipitación en algunos días del año, generando disturbios la sociedad. La disponibilidad de agua tiene repercusiones en prácticamente todas las actividades humanas y animales, siendo indispensable para su supervivencia, para la coexistencia de situaciones motivadas por eventos climáticos extremos derivados de su variabilidad en las ciudades estudiadas, es esencial conocer el comportamiento climático de la precipitación, combinado con recursos técnicos y naturales que apoyan el desarrollo de los municipios.A distribuição pluvial no semiárido brasileiro tem características complexas, que podem ser melhores compreendidas com a análise das frequências e da estatística descritiva dos dados. Objetivou-se analisar a distribuição de frequências e a estatística descritiva das oscilações pluviais mensais e interanual dos municípios de São Bento do Una e Serra Talhada, estado de Pernambuco, Brasil. Utilizou-se da estatística descritiva na determinação da média, mediana, desvio padrão, dos máximos e mínimos valores absolutos, coeficiente de variação, coeficiente de assimétrica e coeficiente de curtose, de precipitações em estudo. A distribuição da frequência pluvial média anual foi analisada para os municípios de São Bento do Uma e Serra Talhada, no período entre 1920 a 2019. A variabilidade climática foi identificada, acarretando em irregularidade pluvial que concentra em alguns dias do ano extremos de precipitação gerando transtornos à sociedade.
