The aim of the study is to know about the performance of nursing professionals in aesthetics in the face of scientific literature. The research is based on an integrative review of a qualitative, exploratory approach. Data collection was performed in March 2022 in the BIREME and PubMed databases with the DECS/MESH: aesthetics (Esthetics), nursing, health. The inclusion criteria were studies in the timeline from 2017 to 2022, aiming to identify articles that were in accordance with the opinion of COFEN 529/2016, according to the descriptors stipulated and the guide question. Exclusion criteria were editorials and notes for editors, as well as research outside the theme addressed. The results of the research showed that the area of nursing activity in aesthetics has challenges in the labor market as an entrepreneur because of capital and awareness of other professionals already inserted in the area, in addition, there are limitations in the matter of graduate studies in the area that are regulated. Thus, it is emphasized that their conduct is not limited to the aesthetic treatment of healthy individuals, without diseases and limitations, but also includes patients with diseases, limitations and care needs, which can combine the competencies and knowledge of nurses in aesthetic services. It is concluded that for nurses, insertion in the field of aesthetics is an opportunity for financial and intellectual complementarity, technical improvement and job satisfaction. The regulation of treatment procedures and resources will increase the safety of practice and legal performance for clients and nurses, reaffirming professional skills and competences previously acquired after professional courses.
