Nursing care for premature newborns in a specialized center: experience report

Resumo: | Objective: To report the experiences lived by nursing students in a specialized care center for child and adolescent health. Method: Descriptive study, of the experience report type, of nursing students from a university in northern Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil, with the practice in the subject of Nursing Curricular Internship in a Specialized Center for Child and Adolescent Health, from August 19 to September 14, 2020. Results: During childcare consultations, it was possible to perform active listening with the mother, to answer doubts and to provide orientations that contribute to the healthy growth and development of premature children. Experiencing prematurity in the family is a delicate moment that needs attention and care from health professionals, especially nurses. Thus, it was possible to develop a humanized care for the child and family, providing support from the multidisciplinary team. Conclusion: It is essential that health professionals recognize feelings that may emerge in the family experiencing prematurity. Through the childcare consultation, it is possible to provide a safe environment, use care strategies, such as active listening, welcoming dialogue, answering doubts, guiding and thus preventing possible complications. |

Método: Estudio descriptivo del tipo informe de experiencia de estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad en el norte de Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil, con la práctica en la disciplina de Prácticas Curriculares en Enfermería en un Centro Especializado para la Salud de Niños y Adolescentes, del 19 de agosto al 14 de septiembre de 2020. Resultados: Durante las consultas de cuidado infantil, fue posible realizar escuchas activas a la madre, responder a dudas y realizar orientaciones que contribuyan al crecimiento saludable y al desarrollo de los niños prematuros. Se encontró que experimentar la prematuridad en la familia es un momento delicado y que necesita atención y cuidado de los profesionales de la salud, especialmente de las enfermeras. Así, fue posible desarrollar un cuidado humanizado para el niño y la familia, proporcionando apoyo del equipo multidisciplinario. Conclusión: Se entiende que es esencial que los profesionales de la salud reconozcan los sentimientos que pueden surgir en la familia que experimenta prematuridad. A través de la consulta de del cuidado infantil, es posible proporcionar un entorno seguro, utilizar estrategias de cuidado, tales como la escucha activa, el diálogo acogedor, respondiendo las dudas, orientando y así previniendo posibles complicaciones.Objetivo: Relatar experiências vivenciadas por acadêmicas de enfermagem em um centro de atendimento especializado à saúde da criança e adolescente. Método: Estudo descritivo do tipo relato de experiência de acadêmicas de Enfermagem de uma universidade do norte do Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil, com a prática na disciplina de Estágio Curricular em Enfermagem em um Centro Especializado à Saúde da Criança e Adolescente, no período de 19 de agosto a 14 de setembro de 2020. Resultados: Durante as consultas de puericultura foi possível realizar escuta ativa à mãe, sanar dúvidas e realizar orientações que contribuem para o crescimento e desenvolvimento saudável da criança prematura. Constatou-se que vivenciar a prematuridade na família é um momento delicado e que necessita de atenção e cuidado dos profissionais da saúde, em especial do enfermeiro. Assim foi possível desenvolver um cuidado humanizado a criança e família, fornecendo apoio da equipe multiprofissional. Conclusão: Compreende-se que é essencial que profissionais da saúde reconheçam sentimentos que possam emergir na família que vivencia a prematuridade.
