Trends in the Brazilian scientific production about auriculotherapy

Resumo: | This study intends to analyze the trends of Brazilian productions, based on theses and dissertations, about auriculotherapy. It is a narrative review, developed with theses and dissertations available in the Directory of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. The search took place in January 2020, with the strategy “auriculotherapy” OR “auricular acupuncture”. After applying the selection criteria, 28 studies constituted the corpus of this review. Studies from dissertations (67.9%), concentration area in Nursing (53.6%), with quantitative designs (96.4%) and produced in institutions from southeastern Brazil (75.0%) were predominant. It has highlighted benefits from the practice of auriculotherapy regarding the physical, emotional and neurological health promotion, fighting chronic diseases, besides habits and health improvements. It is concluded that the trends of the Brazilian scientific productions demonstrate the use of auriculotherapy in different aspects, contributing to the promotion and recovery of the health of individuals. |

Es una revisión narrativa, desarrollada con tesis y disertaciones disponibles en el Catálogo de Tesis y Disertaciones de la Coordinación de Mejoramiento del Personal de Educación Superior. La búsqueda ocurrió en enero de 2020, con la estrategia “auriculoterapia” OR “acupuntura auricular”. Después de aplicar los criterios de selección, 28 estudios constituyeron el corpus de esta revisión. Predominaron estudios derivados de disertaciones (67.9%), área de concentración en Enfermería (53.6%), con diseños cuantitativos (96.4%) y producidos en instituciones del sureste brasileño (75.0%). Se señalaron beneficios de la práctica de auriculoterapia relacionada con la promoción de la salud física, emocional, neurológica, enfermedades crónicas, hábitos y salud. Se concluye que las tendencias de las producciones científicas brasileñas demuestran el empleo de auriculoterapia en diferentes aspectos, contribuyendo a la promoción y recuperación de la salud de las personas. Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar as tendências das produções brasileiras, com base nas teses e dissertações, acerca da auriculoterapia. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa, desenvolvida com teses e dissertações disponíveis no Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior. A busca foi realizada em janeiro de 2020 com a estratégia “auriculoterapia” OR “acupuntura auricular”. Após a aplicação dos critérios de seleção, 28 estudos compuseram o corpus desta revisão. Predominaram estudos provenientes de dissertações (67,9%), área de concentração da Enfermagem (53,6%), com delineamentos quantitativos (96,4%) e produzidos em instituições do Sudeste do Brasil (75,0%). Evidenciaram-se benefícios advindos da prática de auriculoterapia em relação à promoção da saúde física, emocional, neurológica, doenças crônicas e hábitos de saúde. Conclui-se que as tendências das produções científicas brasileiras demonstram o uso da auriculoterapia em diferentes aspectos, contribuindo para a promoção e recuperação da saúde dos indivíduos.
