Obesity and bariatric surgery: an analysis between the bypass and sleeve techniques and their impacts on obese patient’s health

Resumo: Objective: differentiate the most utilized techniques in bariatric surgeries, with the objective of disseminate concepts that involve this procedure has been growing considerably at the clinics and Brazilians hospitals. Method: integrative literature review, with search of published studies at the last 10 years, realized at database: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), US National Library of Medicine (Pubmed) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) in October 2022. The searches were obtained by the crossing, at the database, of the following descriptors: Bariatric Surgery, Gastroplasty, Public Heath, Obesity, Bypass Gastric and Gastrectomy. For the organization of the results, the flowchart was used advocated by PRISMA. Results: 10 articles were selected to compose this revision, and by the comparison between them, the different impacts of the Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy techniques on the heath of patients was evidenced, with focus on metabolic changes, physics, post surgery and resolution of chronicle diseases. Conclusion: The bariatric techniques Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy, belonging to rol of public Brazilian heath system, provide positives and significant impacts at human health, with better life quality, with a little, but meaningful superiority of gastric bypass.

Métodos: revisão integrativa da literatura, com busca de estudos publicados nos últimos 10 anos, realizada nas bases de dados: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), US National Library of Medicine (Pubmed) e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) no mês de outubro de 2022. As buscas foram obtidas pelo cruzamento, nas bases de dados, com seguintes descritores: Cirurgia Bariátrica (Bariatric Surgery), Gastroplastia (Gastroplasty), Saúde Pública (Public Health), Obesidade (Obesity), Derivação Gástrica (Gastric Bypass) e Gastrectomia (Gastrectomy). Para a organização dos resultados foi utilizado o fluxograma preconizado pelo PRISMA. Resultados: 10 artigos foram selecionados para compor esta revisão, e por meio da comparação entre eles, foi evidenciado os diferentes impactos das técnicas Bypass Gástrico e Gastrectomia Sleeve na saúde dos pacientes, com enfoque nas alterações metabólicas, físicas, pós-operatórias e resolução de doenças crônicas. Conclusão: As técnicas bariátricas Bypass Gástrico e Gastrectomia Sleeve, pertencentes ao rol de cirurgias do sistema público brasileiro de saúde, proporcionam impactos positivos e significativos na saúde humana, com melhor controle de comorbidades e ganhos em qualidade de vida, com pequena, mas significativa superioridade do bypass gástrico.Objetivo: diferenciar las técnicas más utilizadas en cirugía bariátrica, con el intuito de difundir los conceptos que envuelven ese procedimiento que crece considerablemente en las clínicas y en los hospitales brasileños. Métodos: revisión integradora de la literatura, buscando estudios publicados en los últimos 10 años, hecha en las bases de datos: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), US National Library of Medicine (Pubmed) y Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS) en el mes de octubre de 2022. Las búsquedas fueron obtenidas por cruzamiento, en las bases de datos, de los siguientes descriptores: Cirurgía Bariátrica (Bariatric Surgery), Gastroplastía (Gastroplasty), Salud Publica (Public Health), Obesidad (Obesity), Derivación Gástrica (Gastric Bypass) y Gastrectomía (Gastrectomy). Para la organización de los resultados fue utilizado el driagrama de flujo recomendado por PRISMA. Resultados: 10 artículos fueron seleccionados para componer esta revisión, y por medio de la comparación entre ellos, fue evidente los distintos impactos de las tecnicas Derivación Gástrica y Gastrectomía Sleeve en la salud de los pacientes, con enfoque en las alteraciones metabólicas, físicas, posoperatorias y resolución de enfermedades crónicas.
