Resumo: Objectives: To analyze, based on the literature, the role of nurses in the family health strategy in the management of women with results of altered Pap smear tests. Methodology:  It is an integrative literature review, with a qualitative approach. Based on the materials available in the Virtual Health Library. Selected articles published in the period 2015 to 2020, in full text, in Portuguese, Spanish and English languages ​​related to the proposed theme were selected. Results: The results point to a flawed health system in relation to the delay in following important appointments for treatment, in addition to the adherence and perception of women about the Pap smear is linked to multiple factors that prevent the control of the cancer of the cérvix and the importance of the nurse in cervical cancer control actions to reduce the incidence of cancer. Final considerations: The study made it possible to understand the reasons for the cancer of the cérvix screening to be inadequate, the reasons that lead to low levels of Pap smear tests, the role of nurses in cervical cancer control actions and their role in the proper management of altered results.

Metodología: Es una revisión de la literatura integradora, con un enfoque cualitativo. Con base en los materiales disponibles en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, se seleccionaron artículos publicados en el período 2015 a 2020, en texto completo, en portugués, español e inglés y relacionados con la temática propuesta. Resultados: Los resultados apuntan a un sistema de salud deficiente en relación al retraso en el seguimiento de citas importantes para el tratamiento, además de que la adherencia y percepción de las mujeres sobre el Papanicolaou está vinculado a múltiples factores que impiden el control del cáncer del cuello uterino  y la importancia de la enfermera en acciones de control del cáncer cervicouterino para reducir la incidencia de cáncer. Consideraciones finales: El estudio permitió comprender las razones por las que el cribado cáncer del cuello uterino es inadecuado, las razones que conducen a bajos niveles de citología, el papel de las enfermeras en las acciones de control del cáncer de cuello uterino y su papel en el adecuado manejo de los resultados alterados.Objetivos: Analisar com base na literatura atuação do enfermeiro da estratégia da saúde da família no manejo da mulher com resultado de exames colpocitológicos alterado. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, com abordagem qualitativa. Baseada nos materiais disponíveis na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Foram selecionados artigos publicados no período de 2015 a 2020, em texto completo, nas línguas portuguesa, espanhola e inglesa que se relacionavam ao tema proposto. Resultados: Os resultados apontam um sistema de saúde falho em relação a demora no seguimento de consultas importantes para o tratamento, além da adesão e percepção de mulheres sobre o exame Papanicolaou está ligada a múltiplos fatores que impedem o controle do câncer do colo de útero e a importância do enfermeiro nas ações de controle do câncer cervical para a diminuição da incidência da neoplasia.
