Resumo: | This work presents a theoretical study of the heat and mass transfer during the drying of industrial ceramic bricks in an oven. Mathematical models have been proposed to describe the drying and heating kinetics of the brick as a function of the process time, considering the existence of the internal and external surface areas and dimensional variations of the brick. Empirical models have been proposed to predict the behavior of moisture content, surface temperature, volume and internal and external surface areas of the product. The study was conducted under different operating conditions of the drying-air (50 to 100°C). The entire modeling was fitted to experimental data of the average moisture content, temperature on the surface and average dimensions of the brick during drying, in each experimental condition, obtaining a good fit and high coefficient of determination, showing its reliability to be used in the prediction of the physical problem. From the comparison, the volume, the internal and external surface areas and the heat and mass transfer parameters of the brick were estimated. |

Se han propuesto modelos matemáticos para describir la cinética de secado y calentamiento del ladrillo en función del tiempo de proceso, considerando la existencia de las superficies internas y externas y las variaciones dimensionales del ladrillo. Se han propuesto modelos empíricos para predecir el comportamiento del contenido de humedad, la temperatura superficial, el volumen y las áreas superficiales internas y externas del producto. El estudio se llevó a cabo en diferentes condiciones de funcionamiento del aire de secado (50 a 100°C). Todo el modelado se ajustó a los datos experimentales del contenido promedio de humedad, temperatura en la superficie y dimensiones promedio del ladrillo durante el secado, en cada condición experimental, obteniendo un buen ajuste y alto coeficiente de determinación, mostrando su confiabilidad para ser utilizado en la predicción del problema físico. A partir de la comparación, se estimaron el volumen, las áreas de las superficies internas y externas y los parámetros de transferencia de calor y masa del ladrillo.Este trabalho apresenta um estudo teórico da transferência de calor e massa durante a secagem de tijolos cerâmicos industriais em estufa. Foram propostos modelos matemáticos para descrever as cinéticas de secagem e aquecimento do tijolo em função do tempo de processo, considerando a existência das áreas superficiais interna e a externa e variações dimensionais do tijolo. Foram propostos modelos empíricos para predizer o comportamento do teor de umidade, temperatura superficial, volume e áreas superficiais interna e externa do produto. O estudo foi conduzido em diferentes condições operacionais do ar de secagem (50 a 100°C). Toda a modelagem foi ajustada a dados experimentais do teor de umidade médio, temperatura na superfície e dimensões médias do tijolo durante a secagem, em cada condição experimental, obtendo-se um bom ajuste e elevado coeficiente de determinação, evidenciando sua confiabilidade para ser usada na predição do problema físico.
