Perception of female soccer athletes in relation to the practice of the modality in Brazil

Resumo: Because women's soccer still faces many challenges in Brazil, the present study sought to understand the perceptions and perceptions of Brazilian women's soccer athletes about motivation and aspects that favor participation in sports as well as obstacles and challenges that arise with professionalization. Participants consisted of five female athletes aged between 18 and 26 years old (M = 21,01; SD = 2,94) who participated in an interview based on five open-ended questions. By means of content analysis, it has been possible to verify that different challenges are faced, including a lack of support in the field, predominance of machismo, insufficient resources, distance from the family, and gender inequality. They indicated the support of the family nucleus for participation in the modality, and a positive vision of the future, marked by hope in advances related to better conditions of practice and development of the modality, which have been achieved in recent decades.

La muestra estuvo compuesta por cinco deportistas de sexo femenino con edades entre 18 y 26 años (M = 21,01; DT = 2,94), que participaron en una entrevista individual, basada en cinco preguntas abiertas. A través del análisis de contenido, fue posible verificar diferentes desafíos enfrentados, relacionados con la falta de apoyo que encuentran en su práctica, el machismo predominante, la falta de recursos, la distancia de la familia, además de la desigualdad de género. Por otra parte, señalaron el apoyo del núcleo familiar a la participación en la modalidad, y una visión positiva del futuro, marcada por la esperanza en los avances relacionados con mejores condiciones de práctica y desarrollo de la modalidad, que se han logrado en las últimas décadas.Diante das dificuldades que o futebol feminino ainda enfrenta no Brasil, o presente estudo teve, como objetivo, compreender a percepção das atletas praticantes de futebol feminino brasileiro acerca da motivação e aspectos que favorecem a prática e inserção no esporte, bem como as dificuldades e desafios na profissionalização. A amostra foi composta por cinco atletas do sexo feminino com idades entre 18 e 26 anos (M = 21,01; DP = 2,94), as quais participaram de uma entrevista individual, conduzida a partir de cinco questões abertas. Por meio da análise de conteúdo, foi possível verificar diferentes desafios enfrentados, relacionados à falta de suporte que encontram em sua prática, machismo predominante, falta de recursos, distância da família, além da desigualdade de gênero.
