The benefits of Pilates in the gestational period: an integrative review

Resumo: | Pregnancy is considered a unique physiological window through maternal and fetal adaptations resulting in a major long-term health impact. The usual problems in pregnancy are treated in different ways, among these the safest, most appropriate and economical to eliminate their complications, is to improve health and quality of life, as well as the regular practice of exercises. Among the various types of exercise, the Pilates method is highlighted, providing the individual with respect and self-knowledge of the body, acting in the physiological preparation and confidence of the practitioner, encompassing the quality of breathing, strengthening, stretching the body structure and body proprioception. This is an integrative literature review, through consultation in online databases to collect information. The main journal databases used for active article searches are: ACOG, Scielo, PubMed, LILACS, MEDLINE, UFG, UFRGS, Google Scholar. Over the years, the practice of physical exercise and kinesiotherapy are the main physiotherapy strategies, applied as non-pharmacological therapies for various pathologies. Pilates is internationally evidenced as one of the fundamental exercises to improve physical-mental and motor function, including a series of low pressure activities that increase the flexibility and strength of the body. It was concluded that the Pilates method is pointed out as of great applicability, through its benefits to pregnant women according to their needs, it is an exercise that adapts to the development of pregnancy and affects the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. |

Los problemas habituales en el embarazo se tratan de diferentes formas, entre estas la más segura, adecuada y económica para eliminar sus complicaciones, es mejorar la salud y la calidad de vida, así como la práctica regular de ejercicios. Entre los diversos tipos de ejercicio se destaca el método Pilates, que proporciona al individuo respeto y autoconocimiento del cuerpo, actuando en la preparación fisiológica y confianza del practicante, englobando la calidad de la respiración, fortaleciendo, estirando la estructura corporal y propiocepción corporal. Esta es una revisión integradora de la literatura, a través de la consulta en bases de datos en línea para recopilar información. Las principales bases de datos de revistas utilizadas para la búsqueda activa de artículos son: ACOG, Scielo, PubMed, LILACS, MEDLINE, UFG, UFRGS, Google Scholar. A lo largo de los años, la práctica de ejercicio físico y la kinesioterapia son las principales estrategias de la fisioterapia, aplicadas como terapias no farmacológicas para diversas patologías. Pilates se evidencia internacionalmente como uno de los ejercicios fundamentales para mejorar la función físico-mental y motora, incluyendo una serie de actividades de baja presión que aumentan la flexibilidad y fuerza del cuerpo. Se concluyó que el método Pilates se señala como de gran aplicabilidad, por sus beneficios a las gestantes de acuerdo a sus necesidades, es un ejercicio que se adapta al desarrollo del embarazo y afecta los sistemas musculoesquelético, cardiovascular y respiratorio.A gravidez é considerada uma janela fisiológica única por intermédio das adaptações maternas e fetais resultando em um grande impacto na saúde a longo prazo. Os problemas habituais na gestação são tratados de diversas maneiras, entre essas a mais seguras, adequadas e econômicas de eliminar suas complicações, é aprimorar a saúde e a qualidade de vida, também a prática regular de exercícios. Dentre os diversos tipos de exercício, evidencia-se o método Pilates, proporcionando ao indivíduo o respeito e o autoconhecimento do corpo, atuando na preparação fisiológica e na confiança do praticante, englobando a qualidade da respiração, fortalecimento, alongamento da estrutura corporal e propriocepção corporal. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, através da consulta em bancos de dados online para o levantamento das informações. As principais bases de dados de periódicos usados para as buscas ativas dos artigos são: ACOG, Scielo, PubMed, LILACS, MEDLINE, UFG, UFRGS, Google Acadêmico. Ao longo dos anos, a prática do exercício físico e a cinesioterapia são as principais estratégias da fisioterapia, aplicadas como terapias não farmacológicas para diversas patologias. O Pilates é evidenciado internacionalmente como um dos fundamentais exercícios para aperfeiçoar a função físico-mental e motora, incluindo uma série de atividades de baixa pressão que elevam a flexibilidade e força do corpo.
