Prenatal care from the perspective of the pregnant woman

Resumo: Objective: describe the pregnant woman's perception of prenatal care. Methods: It is an exploratory study, with qualitative approach, carried out with 15 pregnant women in a Basic Health Unit located in the city of Manaus/AM. Results: after analyzing the information obtained, five thematic categories were constructed that describe the understanding of the pregnant woman about the importance of prenatal care, the performance of professionals in the prenatal consultation, the accessibility to the exams recommended by the Ministry of Health, education in the promotion of self-care, and adequate care from the perspective of the pregnant woman. Conclusion: the study revealed that in the face of the prenatal care they receive, pregnant women have the understanding that they are getting good care, emphasizing cordiality, active listening and ease of access as relevant factors for this understanding. However, the information extracted from the questionnaires suggests how much they are being neglected in the health services.

Métodos: Se trata de un estudio exploratorio, con un enfoque cualitativo, realizado con 15 mujeres embarazadas en una Unidad Básica de Salud situada en la ciudad de Manaus/AM. Resultados: A partir del análisis de la información obtenida, se construyeron cinco categorías temáticas que describen la comprensión de la mujer embarazada sobre la importancia de la atención prenatal, el desempeño de los profesionales en la consulta prenatal, la accesibilidad a los exámenes recomendados por el Ministerio de Salud, la educación en la promoción del autocuidado y la atención adecuada según la perspectiva de la mujer embarazada. Conclusión: El estudio reveló que las mujeres embarazadas entienden que están recibiendo una buena atención prenatal, destacando la cordialidad, la escucha activa y la facilidad de acceso como factores relevantes para esta comprensión. Sin embargo, la información extraída de los cuestionarios sugiere cuánto se les está descuidando en los servicios de salud.Objetivo: descrever a percepção da gestante sobre a assistência ao pré-natal. Métodos: trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, com abordagem qualitativa, realizada com 15 gestantes em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS) localizada na cidade de Manaus/AM. Resultados: após análise dos dados obtidos, foram construídas cinco categorias temáticas que descrevem a compreensão da gestante sobre a importância do pré-natal, a atuação da equipe multiprofissional na consulta de pré-natal, a acessibilidade aos preconizados pelo MS, a educação na promoção do autocuidado e o atendimento adequado na perspectiva da gestante. Conclusão: o estudo revelou que diante da assistência que recebem no pré-natal, as gestantes têm a compreensão que está sendo bem assistidas, destacando a cordialidade, escuta ativa e a facilidade de acesso como fatores relevantes para esse entendimento.
