Covid-19 and the current scenario of the City of Castanhal – PA, Brazil

Resumo: | COVID-19, a disease discovered on December 31, 2019, has symptoms similar to those of a common flu, and gradually impacts lives in the worldwide population . A study carried out by the Universidade Federal de Pelotas (Federal University of Pelotas) (UFPEL), identified 11 cities located in the northern region with a high percentage of contamination by COVID-19, the municipality of Castanhal, located in the northeast of the State of Pará, Amazon, Brazil, stands out among the Brazilian cities with one of the highest contamination rates, being placed in third place in the national ranking of the prevalence index. Therefore, this article aims to verify the COVID-19 index in Castanhal-Pará, Brazil. Methodologically, data were collected on the website of the State Department of Public Health of Pará (SESPA), in addition to bibliographic research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach that enfolds the involvement of mixed methods. In the results, there was an increase in the rate of confirmed cases as well as deaths and recoveries. From just 01 confirmed case on March 27, 2020, the municipality went to 1,215 confirmations of COVID-19 until June 12, 2020. In addition, the strategic function of the city of Castanhal was verified for the functioning of part significant number of municipalities in the northeast of Pará. It is concluded that several state and municipal measures were taken, in an attempt to face COVID-19, but continuous care is needed, both by the population and by the government in the fight against the new coronavirus. |

Un estudio llevado a cabo por la Universidad Federal de Pelotas (UFPEL), identificó 11 ciudades ubicadas en la región norte con un alto porcentaje de contaminación por COVID-19. El municipio de Castanhal, ubicado en el noreste del estado de Pará, Amazonia, Brasil, se destaca entre las ciudades brasileñas con una de las tasas de contaminación más altas, se ubican en el tercer lugar en el ranking nacional del índice de prevalencia. Este artículo tiene como objetivo verificar el índice de la COVID-19 en Castanhal-Pará, Brasil. Metodológicamente, los datos se recopilaron en el sitio web del Departamento de Salud Pública del Estado de Pará (SESPA), además de la investigación bibliográfica, con un enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo que involucra la participación de métodos mixtos. En los resultados, hubo un aumento en la tasa de casos confirmados, así como de muertes y recuperaciones. Desde solo 01 caso confirmado el 27 de marzo de 2020, el municipio pasó a 1.215 confirmaciones de la COVID-19 hasta el 12 de junio de 2020. Además, se verificó la función estratégica de la ciudad de Castanhal para el funcionamiento de una parte importante de los municipios en el noreste de Pará. Se concluye que se tomaron varias medidas estatales y municipales, en un intento de enfrentar la COVID-19, pero se necesita atención continua, tanto por la población como por el gobierno en la lucha contra el nuevo coronavirus.A COVID-19, doença descoberta em 31 de dezembro de 2019, possui os sintomas semelhantes aos de uma gripe comum, e impacta a vida da população mundial de forma gradativa. Um estudo realizado pela Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPEL), apontou 11 cidades situadas na região norte com percentual elevado de contaminações pela COVID-19. O município de Castanhal, localizado no nordeste do Estado do Pará, Amazônia, Brasil, destaca-se entre as cidades brasileiras com uma das maiores taxas de contaminação, estando alocada em terceiro lugar no ranking nacional do índice de prevalência. Desse modo, este artigo tem como objetivo verificar os índices da COVID-19 em Castanhal-Pará, Brasil. Metodologicamente, realizou-se o levantamento de dados no site da Secretaria Estadual de Saúde Pública do Pará (SESPA), além da pesquisa bibliográfica, com abordagem quanti-qualitativa que consiste no envolvimento de métodos mistos. Nos resultados, constatou-se o aumento da taxa de casos confirmados assim como de óbitos e recuperados. De apenas 01 caso confirmado no dia 27 de março de 2020, o município passou para 1.215 confirmações da COVID-19 até o dia 12 de Junho de 2020. Além disso, verificou-se a função estratégica da cidade de Castanhal para o funcionamento de parte significativa de municípios do nordeste paraense.
