Prevalence of the special needs of patients served in a type III CEO of a reference hospital in Brazil

Resumo: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Patients with Special Needs seen at the pediatric outpatient clinic of a type III CEO.Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study carried out by surveying 1,384 clinical records of patients from 0 to 19 years of age, with confirmed diagnoses of some special need and attended from June to September 2018.  Information collected from medical records such as: the registration number, sex, age, origin, the type of special needs and the history of caries experience. Then, the classification was applied according to the diagnosed pathology, elaborated by Santos & Haddad. Results: Most patients were male (58.2%) and lived in the Metropolitan Region of Recife (51.4%). Regarding special needs, it was found that the highest percentages correspond to patients with Congenital Defects (27.4%), Chronic Systemic Diseases (21.1%), Special Physiological States (15.2%), Physical Defects (14, 7%), Sensory and Audio-communication Defects (8.5%), Behavioral Deviations (4.8%), Intelligence Deviations (4.3%), Endocrine-Metabolic Diseases (3.6%) and Deviations Psychic (0.2%).

Método: Estudio descriptivo transversal realizado mediante relevamiento de 1.384 histórias clínicas de pacientes de 0 a 19 años, con diagnósticos confirmados de alguna necesidad especial y atendidos de junio a septiembre de 2018. Información recolectada de historias clínicas como: el número de registro, sexo, edad, ciudad de origen, tipo de necesidades especiales y antecedentes de caries. Luego, se aplicó la clasificación según la patología diagnosticada, elaborada por Santos & Haddad. Resultados: la mayoría de los pacientes eran hombres (58,2%) y vivían en la Región Metropolitana de Recife (51,4%). En cuanto a las necesidades especiales, se encontró que los mayores porcentajes corresponden a pacientes con Defectos Congénitos (27,4%), Enfermedades Crónicas Sistémicas (21,1%), Estados Fisiológicos Especiales (15,2%), Defectos Físicos (14, 7%), Defectos sensoriales y de audiocomunicación (8,5%), Desviaciones de comportamiento (4,8%), Desviaciones de inteligencia (4,3%), Enfermedades endocrino-metabólicas (3,6%) y Desviaciones Psíquico (0,2%).O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar a prevalência de Pacientes com Necessidades Especiais atendidos no ambulatório de Odontopediatria de um CEO tipo III na cidade do Recife, Pernambuco. Metódo: Estudo descritivo de corte transversal realizado através do levantamento de 1.384 fichas clínicas de pacientes de 0 a 19 anos de idade, com diagnósticos confirmados de alguma necessidade especial e atendidos no período de junho a setembro de 2018.  Informações coletadas das fichas clínicas como: o número do registro, sexo, idade, cidade de origem, o tipo de necessidades especiais e a história de experiência de cárie. Em seguida, aplicou-se a classificação de acordo com a patologia diagnosticada, elaborada por Santos & Haddad. Resultados: A maioria dos pacientes era do sexo masculino (58,2%) e residia na Região Metropolitana de Recife (51,4%).
